DellWebsite...Outright Fraud or Negligence??

Hi
The amount of smoke and mirrors on dell site for notebooks is reprehensible!!!

for example--Click on a system that says $200 instant and it takes you to another more expensive solution
w/o instant ?#$%^

On and On and on...

Have you people noticed this?

I'll be the first to admit i'm not a rocket scientist but the smoke and mirror effect is confusing...
Me thinks purposely

I think i'll but ibm
more affordable
no smoke and mirrors!!

Maybe you are experiencing what I sometimes do. When you follow a link they take you to suggested solutions. Generally it's not too difficult to locate what I want.

Bekker

I know what you are saying. You click on their "as low as" price and you get a different configuration that costs 600 bucks more or something. Then you need to completely strip it down for their displayed price. And sometimes you can't quite get there.

They usually offer a preconfigured setup thats the same as the advertised price, however they calculate in MIRs in their advertised price.

You must be legally blind if you miss that.

For a little bit they would send you to a configuration that was a few hundre $'s more than the "as low as" price, even without the rebates. Now, though, once you click on a model there is a link on the right hand side that says something like "go to a base configuration." I don't see anything wrong with that.

There is definitely something wrong with being MISLEADING--DECEPTIVE ETC...

Remember what George Carlin had to say about sales and marketing...it's all true!!!

I have noticed that Dell tries to sneak in extras when you buy a computer. For instance, if I configure a specific system, it usually involves unchecking the powerstrip/laptop bag option. If I use the E-Value code to return to my configuration, the laptop bag or power strip is rechecked. Friends have ordered systems from them by phone, and the ended up getting $40 surge protectors that they didn't specifically order (nor did they specifically not order).

"Buyer Beware"
He said: While wiping the blood from his bum,
I went to the dell website, clicked on the "Only $799.00" button and ended up with a $1,500 bill
for a useable system

Not always is it before rebates. I remember trying to configure a server that was "499" and could hardly get below 600 WITH any rebate.

They do sneak some of their overpriced accessories in or at least leave them to be unchecked.

I think it's common sense to click on a price and see a system configured that way. Then build up from there.

It's like they have a 499 system but that is barebones everything including warranty.
Then they show it with upgraded warranty, software packages, UPS, Dell Ultra Super Mousepad, Dell Pencil Sharpener, Dell Desklight..... I mean if I'm there it is for a computer not all the other tech junk I can buy at newegg for half their price.
