Id probably upgrade the CPU to the T9300 2.5GHz 6MB L2 for 185$ more, then upgrade the RAM and HDD yourself. Maybe add a bit more warrenty, such a system may want to cook itself somewhere down the road.

As far as I can tell the 9800GT is just a rebadged 8800GTX (and I was just looking at such a system for 1900$).

I'm thinking this might be a price mistake. If you look at the M1730 main page, the $999 model typically comes with 8700M SLI. I think someone just kept changing URLs until they found something that worked.

Also, this thing weights almost 11 lbs. Geez.

Yeah there is a HUGE thread on this over at SD. I personally ordered one as soon as I saw it, and just received the confirmation email. If it actually ships or not, we will see.

I've never seen a gaming laptop deal this good. I could care less about battery and weight, even the processor isn't that bad. It's a limited upgrade, but if you slap an X7800 or X9000 in, it's OC'able well above 3Ghz.

If your in the market, don't think - do it now or regret it!

if i had more $$$ to spend, i'd be all over this. maybe in a year's time

FYI- according a a good number of reports over at SD, they're pulling a bait with this one and replacing the 9800 GT SLI with a single 8700 GT. If you do get a confirmation message, be sure to check the specs carefully.

I just received my confirmation email. The link to my order showed 1GB SHARED DUAL 9800M GT ~

Looks like I'm good to go! (Hopefully)
