I'm getting ready to drop the ~$1100 for one of these units. I have both configured with the 1080p screen upgrade and i7 2630QM CPU and 6Gb RAM.
Here are the relative advantages to each as I see them: 1-HP has the Radeon 6770m graphics card which looks clearly better than NVIDIA offerings with the Dell. 2-HP graphics are switchable(?), allowing use of Intel CPU graphics to save power on battery operation. 3-HP config will come in ~$100+ less with current deals.
1-Dell XPS has backlit keyboard standard and not available on HP. 2-Dell sound/speakers are better from what I can glean from some of the forums I respect.
I haven't been able to get a clear idea of relative build quality or quality comparisons of the respective displays .
I surely would appreciate any thoughts/opinions you all might offer, this being one of the more savvy forums. Thanks in advance.
Any other recommendations aside from these 2 are welcome. Primary uses of the system is entertainment, surfing, video, light gaming etc. IOW, a medium kick butt portable system. I might spend a couple hundred more for the right performance increase.
