Oh well, price mistake. Went in for 5, total $99.95 before tax, went to checkout, went through Paypal, total at Dell "Click here to order" screen, $384.xx. WTF?

DEAD!

I tried 1 when I read that post, it went through, so, you either just missed it, or, the limit is 1?
(I still expect to see it cancelled though).

well I got 2 confirmation emails (order received and order confirmed)
so hope it was legit while it lasted 🙂
ordered 2 for total of $42.38

I'm sure it was never the intended price, but maybe you'll get lucky and it'll go through. I wouldn't count on it until you get shipping notification, though. (PS: And you've checked your CC account to make sure it actually bills/posts at the price it checked out at...)

btw what is a wd sd blue. They purchased sandisk so I assume it is one of the plain sandisk drives (not the pro for sure).

Better hurry before sold out
This is legit - already got my email confirmation

If you think email confirmation makes a deal legit you're in for a rude awakening. This is a pricing mistake that is going to get cancelled, the confirmation notice is automated.

Still, I ordered one of each anyway just on the one in a billion chance that it actually goes through.

Monoprice mistakenly included their video cards in their 20% sitewide coupon and I got an EVGA GTX 1070 for $345 AR because they actually honored it.

Here's hoping this comes through for you all.

Tracking info from UPS. Did not expect that. May get them after all.
Hmm...you got very lucky then.

Actually, I didn't even get a rock yet. Stuck in limbo without being shipped or cancelled.

This is a cluster****. Some people have gotten theirs delivered already, some have gotten the cancellation email and still got delivery of the order that was supposedly cancelled. Dell is telling some people that the orders are cancelled and others that they're not really cancelled and will ship when they get more stock in and others that some orders that were shipped will be intercepted before they leave the shipping depot so that even if you got a tracking number you still might not get the drives. 100 people can contact Dell and get 100 different answers.

This is a cluster****.
Indeed. I've been really surprised to see that any of them shipped at all. I bet someone's head at Dell is going to roll over this... Not because of the pricing mistake, of course, that seems to be routine... but because any, or more than one or two in any event, actually left the premises at that price. What's the world coming to?

Check out the thread at SD. You have a number of people bragging about getting a number of drives while the rest ended up with nothing. This is really sad on Dell's account. Just my opinion but they should honor their mistake for everyone who ordered for at least one drive. Dell's rep is going to take another huge hit because of this one ...

I don't expect a company to honor price mistakes. That stuff happens and nobody should be forced to eat tens of thousands of dollars because some employee listed a $100 item at $20 instead of $20 off. Just be honest, cancel the orders, apologize and if possible offer a discount coupon or some other token compensation to those inconvenienced. Not a big deal. But Dell has handled this like amateurs. Lies, coverups, package interceptions and filling orders for hundreds of drives from single customers while canceling orders of single drives from thousands upon thousands more. It's like they're trying to anger as many people as possible.

And to this day, I don't understand how companies the size of Dell can have problems like this. It would be simple to add drop-dead prices to your item databases and websites so that the sales price can't possibly be set lower than item cost without double supervisor overrides. It's literally a couple of lines of code. Why would you not have safeguards in place to protect against items getting listed at a frenzy-inducing price?

And three days now my order is still is limbo. Not shipped, not cancelled, no status change at all. That's ridiculous, how inept do you have to be to not notify the customers if there is a problem?

Meh. It's not even a cluster****, it's just a typical SD cluster circle-****…

Dell's rep is going to take another huge hit because of this one ...
Only in the fantasy world some Slickdealers seem to live in. And most them will jump on the next "plus gift card" not-really-a-deal anyway, so why should Dell care?🙄 Maybe a dozen normal people noticed the mistake and tried to order the drive in the first place…

That stuff happens...

[...] I don't understand how companies the size of Dell can have problems like this.
I hafta say, it does seem to happen to Dell quite a bit. Not that I'm donning a tinfoil helmet, but it is kinda strange when other e-tailers with way more product listings than they have don't do it as often. And it's not like they're dropping a digit or misplacing a decimal point, either. I do wonder what percentage of their revenue comes from non-configurable computers via the website, and whether the whole thing is run by the same corporate "group"? Maybe it's small enough that they really do just have some sort of "B" (or "C") Team managing it? This sort of thing doesn't seem to happen in their "customize your computer" module…

I wish more people thought like you do. Not too drag this thread in the wrong direction but I'm a small business owner and I can tell you people always jump at our pricing mistakes and expect us to honor them. It really sucks because an honest mistake can cost us hundreds of dollars or more.

Anyway, not sure what Dell should have done but it sounds like they are bungling this fairly bad. Hope you guys who ordered one and then got a cancellation notice didn't get your cards charged.

Honestly I hope we do. An honest mistake entering numbers on a site or database is nothing. That I forgive them for. However charging a card is very illegal and if they charge my card on an item that never shipped that could provide sufficient leverage to force them to honor the price when new stock comes in. We can't do jack over price mistakes, but we can over fraudulent charges.

I gotta say, I have no clue how a billion $ company still don't have a way to detect if the price of the item is below their cost.
Makes no sense at all.

Neither does it make sense for them to actually ship large quantities of said item just because the person did overnight shipping, and now, they are selling a ton of units on fleabay.
It is 2017, and their ordering system is from the 90's.
