Dell UltraSharp U2412M $305.99 w/FS at NewEgg

Was just looking at this. Nice price, and that code is good for 10% off all of the Dell 24" monitors that Newegg sells, including the 2410.

Funny thing is, I bought that same monitor a week before this deal came up. Still, for a quality 1920x1200 e-IPS panel it was totally worth it.

Been waiting for a deal on one of the Dell IPS screens. Is this about as low as they get?

Dell often sells the u2412 on its website for $279.99, but they hit you with tax and/or shipping, so it comes out around the same as this. And Dell doesn't provide the same awesome service/return policy that Newegg does. So if you've been waiting on one of these, I would say now is as good a time as any to jump on it.

Can someone remined me on the 2410 vs 2412 - how much difference, is the better one worth the extra cost, etc.? For gaming... given the 10% off prices.

Not likely to pick one up, happy with standard 27" LCD, but nice to know about the IPS/eIPS... not sure how much I'd see improvement in the better ones.

24" is a loss though.

for gaming i'd say there's little difference. the 2410 is more content creation focused.

OK. How about 27" standard LCD (TN) vs. 24" 2412 eIPS for gaming?

I like the 27" for size.

the TN is likely to be marginally faster, and since when gaming you sit right in front of the screen you don't have the off-center issues. so gaming plays well to TN's strength while avoiding one of TN's big weaknesses.

front page's review (the asus ms238h is a TN panel)

there's also the glossy/nonglossy consideration.

There's a nice summary of the differences between the 2410 and 2412 here. It's almost to the bottom of the page.

I bit and ordered just now. I just returned an 24" ASUS TN panel to Newegg last week, I just couldnt deal with the washed out colors and backlight bleeding. Hopefully this will be more to my liking and still be fast enough for some gaming.

I think Dell's service/return policy is better than Newegg's. They'll pay for return shipping if you just changed your mind. You may get that with Newegg if you're a decent customer and complain about a problem, but otherwise their return policy involves restocking fee and footing the return shipping yourself.

i pulled the trigger on one of these to replace my 28in hanspree that failed after 18 months... it would cost >$200 to ship it to ca and get fixed... sigh... truly a shame to throw stuff like that away...

I have a broken NEC 21" CRT ($2200) and Sony 22" CRT I can't stand to toss.

There is a reputable dealer on ebay with new in box monitors for the same price shipped...might be worth it for cali people...still carries 3 year dell warranty..I know we can't link to ebay, but a simple search will bring it up.

I feel your pain, I am about to toss maybe $25k in original cost of CRTs, three of them are spares and never used, but all are 10 or so years old so worth zip, and in SoCal the electric rate is $0.27 kwhr. We will be almost 100% flat screens in a month or two.

I've been slowly switching over to Dell Ultrasharps I find local on CL, but the best ones $300+ even used, better to watch the deals and buy new with full warranty.

I see refurbs with 90 day warranty from the dell outlet store for $279, is that what you are talking about or new units with a full warranty?

New units. But it's their frequent sale price, not the standard price, and they're not offering it right now.
