Dell ultrasharp LCD owners: quick question

bro just hooked his 1905fp up.. does he need to use the install disc ? Right now it's registering under XP as Plug and Play monitor and 75Hz max refresh rate...

No drivers needed and its a standard aspect ratio as far as I'm aware.

Need to, no. But he should ship it back and get something else, since the 1905FP sucks for gaming and movies due to shizzy response time. I know, I have it. It sucks ass for gaming, and ghosting in movies is very noticable for me. I'd send it back, but I got it for free so...

The disc that comes with most of Dell's LCDs is the manual and docs...The 1905 is not a WS monitor, it runs @ 1280x1024

As far as I know, any plug and play monitor will view Alba pics just fine.

Installing the drivers might allow you to use the 60hz mode, which is probably what you should be using.

LCD's do not operate the same as CRT monitors. A higher "refresh rate" does not mean better on an LCD.

The CD that came with the monitor probably has drivers on it but all they will really do is change it from plug and play to Dell 1905FP

I really had no idea. I'm on a 27" LCD myself and I have it at 75Hz but also have a 60Hz option.

I just switched to 60Hz and it looks exactly the same to me so I'll leave it... you guys know what you're saying I'm suuuuuuuuuuure.

when i installed my 2001FP, i didn't use the driver CD. i think even CRTs come with "monitor drivers" but almost all systems, to the best of my knowledge, detect the monitors immediately without any problems or incompatible drivers.

i think the only thing that could be questionable is using DVI. i haven't gotten that to work yet.
