Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW vs U2410?

Dell 2405FPW - Used, but in great condition, no dead pixels, scratches, etc. No warranty though. $300 USD.

U2410 - ~1 yr warranty left, $400USD.

Which one would you get? I am upgrading from a crappy 24" Acer and basically I just want a higher quality screen and height adjustable stand.

Just picked up 2 2405's about a week ago for $280 on CL. Guy wanted $300 but on my way there he got caught up with some errands and threw me back $20 for the wait. Never knew 3 2405s in portrait mode is as big as a 46" tv.

2405 is an outdated, very old model, a complete ripoff for more than $100-150

U2410 is the current top of the line 24" with the latest IPS panel, connections etc - it's $500 normally, $400 is a fair price.

They are pretty slow for competitive FPS, I went from 2405 to U2410 and boy, there is a difference... blacks are mediocre as well (it's 5+ years old, hey) but 2 for $280 is an OK price if neither has backlight or uniformity problems (two common issues after years of use.)

I've got the 2405, 2407, and a 2408. If I were you, I'd take the 2410 every day and twice on Sunday.

The u2410 is pretty responsive for an LCD, but it does have 2 frames of input lag on average. Not a huge deal, but if you game competitively it could matter. It also has really good ergonomics and connectivity.

Yeah that was what tftcentral found too... my HP LP2475 has a lower black level and a higher (post-calibration) CR compared to the U2410. The 10/12bit LUT does looks appealing to me since grayscale reproduction would no doubt be better than a traditional 8bit LUT, even without extended colour support from the OS (I look at lots of X-rays so grayscale actually matters, but I don't wanna give up on CR because I'm watching movies on this monitor too!)

IIRC in Game mode I measured around one frame which IMO is negligible, even for competitive players.

I was debating the 2475w too but picked the U2410 for lower lag, better ports (I liked my 2405's card reader feature) and other, similar reasons plus didn't want to risk getting the first-gen HP2475w with its awful S-IPS panel accidentally.

Overall I'm very happy with my U2410 and in Game mode wide gamut makes everything look funny...
