There were many problems with the Dells.
Too many people had the same problem even after they did a few RMAs.
The problems were all the same on the earlier revisions so most people were waiting for the latest revision to have it corrected before buying or doing a rma.

Oh, good to know. I have 4 right now with no problems, except one of them sometimes doesnt power on after it goes to sleep. I'll go do some googling to see what the many problems were though. Thanks :)

May I ask what the problem was with these monitors, or for a link to discussions about the problem?

The u3014 had some weird issues that numerous people were reporting where there were horizontal lines across the screen. Here's a link to one of the threads at the Dell forums where someone described the issue with the aid of some pictures.

I almost bought one of these and it's possible that the problem has now been resolved in the refurbs. I do have a 3007wfp (refurb) and a U3011 and I have to say that the 3007wfp still looks more clear than the u3011. I only bought the u3011 due to the dual DVI-D inputs and the displayport otherwise I would have settled for another 3007wfp. I needed a way to switch between my Linux Mint 15 (dual monitors using 5200x1600) and my Macbook air so that multiple inputs were necessary for me.

I've seen that before. It's a bandwidth issue on DVI generally; the 30 inchers push that cable really hard. If you get a DP cable (dell loves DP for some reason <snicker>) the issue goes away. I imagine this is true for HDMI also, if it has the port.

Lots of people will not know or understand why this happens. I think if you have a 100% high quality compliant DVI cable and good video card, it's no problem, but lets just admit that we just use whatever cable and are constantly kinking them under our rolling office chairs.. (exaggeration)
