If you didn't know, it's not for you. Please move along!

Next time you put up a thread, stop with just the model numbers.

I didn't know what it was either until clicked on it.

You need to tell people in the title to help them out.

Some one asks you and you tell them if they don't know, move along?

I don't think so.

I knew what it was before clicking on the thread. If someone says GTX680 or 7970 do you not know the thread is about video cards? Or that 2500k is not an intel processor?

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has one of these. How much bigger than the 27" does it feel?

I have a single, and thinking real hard about a double but I'd need to wall mount them. I came off a 1900x1200 Dell 2408WFP and the U3011 is huge. You won't be prepared for the size and the moment you power it on, it will blow you away. You'll be in shock and awe at the new visual experience. It's hard to explain the stimulation...from games to movies to mundane office tasks. It's worth every penny. But if you can't afford it, consider the Koreans @ $550

Dude? So uncool. How hard is it to put monitor in your title?

With the amount of time you took to post these useless comments you could have copied and pasted u3011 into google.

Back on topic this is 1113 after tax~ which is higher than what amazon is selling for online atm (1090).

It's a solid deal, but I'm waiting for the 4k x 2k panels to come out. Got my fingers crossed for an announcements at CES.

everyone who knows anything about computers knows what a u**11 is

Don't be so condescending about it. I didn't know what it was (although I've seen them before and it just didn't come to mind). As for complaining about it that's something else. Clicking the link solved that problem in about 2 seconds flat. If only I had that much cash to drop on one of these things. Cool find.

What was the recent $559 deal the 27 something or this one?

I'm using a pair of 2001FP Dells, and looking for bigger, but budget telling me 2408 may be my limit.

$559 27" Monitor was the Dell U2713HM. I picked one up, it's excellent.

I don't see why someone would pay $1000+ for the U3011. You get 120 more horizontal lines, but pay oh so much for them. At this point, I'd wait around for an affordable 4K monitor if you're willing to drop that much dough.

It is actually a 160 more pixels (1600-1440=160)

The U3011 also has 28% more screen area and is much taller. (7.5% wider and 19% taller)

Some people will pay double for 28% more performance. For example a gtx680 is only 30 to 50% faster than a normal gtx660 at 1920x1200, depending on game most games it is about 35%, (not a ti version but a normal 660) yet it costs more than double what a 660 is.

Ive had the U3011 now for for about a year. Nice monitor but its build quality cant hold a candle to the monitor that came before it: the 3008. The 3008 was a piece of art.

Remember... It has a grainy coating. I had a Dell 30" once and I got rid of it and went back to my 1920x1200

It's meant for a brightly lit business environment, and works well in that situation. For home users, the replacement u3014 is being released in a few months and will have a much better/lighter coating (similar to the u2713HM)

If you use a big screen to play games the cost is not only up front, but now you need more video card to support all those pixels.

If you use the big screen to make money, create content, etc. then the cost is trivial and its likely a mistake to use less than the best available even if the cost is much higher.

My son paid this same price about a year ago direct from Dell. They will negotiate slightly on the price if you call them. My understanding is they are releasing the new version of this monitor soon.

I have a 3007WFP and it's probably the best monitor that I've ever bought. The grainy coating never bothered me ever.
I'd get the U3011 just to get dual monitors but it sucks that I don't have the space for another one.

The regular price for this monitor via amazon is $1078 by the way. $1400 is not a typical price.
