Does it have much bleeding? Tempting to replace my 5 year old 2209wa.

Funny that your current monitor is a 2209wa because that is what my second screen is. I'd say they are pretty comparable and the color can be tuned to be almost the same. The biggest difference is the 2412m is much much brighter at 100% but you can tune them to look equal. As far as bleeding, I have never noticed any. If there is any, it must be pretty minor because I used to notice it on some of my previous backlit LCDs.

This is of course an LED.

Anyone have any opinions on getting 2 of these vs. 1 of the U2713HMs? I've been thinking about both options. Usually doing one of the following scenarios:

- Movies + e-mail/web browsing
- Gaming
- Occasional programming

Thanks!

wow, IPS prices are really dropping. I wonder if Dell is feeling some heat from monoprice and the korean manufacturers

This also could be clearing out an old rev or they could be bringing a replacement model out soon cleaning out some inventory.

2x 1920x1200=3840x1200
1x 2560x1440

So you get some more vertical, but lose horizontal. If you watch a movie+browse the web then I'd go for 2 monitors over 1. For gaming I'd go 1 over dual. For programming I'd go for 2 over 1 (more real estate is beneficial from my experience). So for those 3 situations I'd go with 2 monitors in the majority of situations.

some games (supreme commander?) do well with multiple monitors.

I have this display, and as someone with less-than-perfect vision and who reads/works with lots of text I've been very happy. IMHO it's just a matter of whether 16:10 is a good or bad thing for each user. For me it's a very very good thing.

Is this worth moving to from a U2410? I got the impression the U2410 probably has better color accuracy, but is this better in latency or any other features? I'd be moving from a U2410 and some old 1680x1050 Viewsonic to two of these.

The u2410 is the professional level of Dell's 24 inch Ultrasharp line. It's designed for image pros, graphic artists, photogs, etc. So it has great color accuracy, usb hub, flash card reader, and multiple ports. The 2412 is, as I mentioned earlier, the cheaper version that gives you an IPS and basic connectivity. No bells and whistles.

Now 2 of the same monitor are better than two different ones.

This is a nice price, however I do feel that prices for IPS panel monitors are coming down.. I'll pass and wait for it to hit $229 or something :p

I bought mine last time for around $251 after tax and everything from Dell last time. Got rid of it because I thought I wouldn't need it, biggest mistake ever.

For anyone concerned about defective or dead pixels, dell will take care of it for you.. There CS is on top.

Keep the 2410
The panel is technically superior to this one and has lots more connectors.

I've been using one of these everyday at work for quite some time. Great colors, good viewing angles, and excellent black levels. I really like having the extra vertical pixels as well, and the stand is also very nice. You can't go wrong at this price.

Really tempting. My second monitor is an old 19" Samsung. It is sooo small... Then my wife is using a 2405 which is still REALLY nice but I think it could go at anytime because its so old lol.

Based on some of the review comments it appears that the Amazon version does not come with a service tag so it makes it difficult to get service if you need it.

Sounds like that's a problem with buying Dell monitors from a reseller. You see similar comments on Newegg.
