Question: when you get an "integrated audio" option from Dell I assume the sound chip is part of the motherboard -- my question is can I still add my own sound card later if I want to (I want a digital audio output for home theater PC)? Or am I restricted to only the integrated sound device?

try google... I know they have free shipping for certain stuff... I just got a camera and they are shipping it free.. I think $299 and above or something like that

yeah you could use another sound card and disable the onboard in the bios most likely...

would be nice if the topic were more descriptive

you should be able to disable your onboard audio and use your own card...

sign up for a fedex account on fedex.com then give dell your fedex shipper number and pay for it yourself through fedex, you'll just be charged fedex's rate rather than dell's so its like $20.

Only $20? Damn that's cheap. Dell charges $95 I think even without monitor.

dont waste your time......by the time fedex sets you up you wont qualify for the pricing anymore.....

gordo, PM me and i might be able to help you out

the $75 coupon doesn't work anymore 🙁

Zboy

Free shipping went out the window last month. That Airborne deal Jokeram mentioned might be your best bet.
Otherwise, time to pony up the charges.

Which system were you trying to get and how much was it?

<< Speakers: Select Monsoon Speakers Below DLWRSKP [461-3821] >>

You cannot take the speaker deletion and NOT order the Monsoons, ie. you only can that speaker credit is if you check the order box below for the Monsoons.

<< zboy I think for the 75 coupon your total needs to be 800+ >>

what about using the 10% general coupon thats out there?? that will be $63.40.. if nothing else works out that will still bring your shipping costs down considerably.

anyone confirm how fast shipping and what the cost is via airborne or fedex? that in itself would be a hot deal if it was really 20 bucks!

Like Cryst said, you can only select your own shipper if you buy from small business section. But the $200-$300 rebate do not exist in the small business area.

I was thinking of doing this......I don't think you get the $300 rebate AND the RDRAM, it's one or other.
If you downgrade memory to 128MB SDRAM....the rebate will be valid.

I would hate to order then find you are not getting an expected $300 back.

Quote from Dell page:

<< Choose Dimension 8200 desktop $300 Mail-in Rebate OR FREE Upgrade to 256MB PC800 RDRAM from 128MB PC800 RDRAM >>

I think its really sneaky of them.....it's easy to miss that point. I bet there are more than a few ordered the system and will not be getting their rebate.

Anyone know what time of day the prices on Dell are the best. It seems like every time I see a deal, by the time I go for it, its 60 bucks or so more.

I don't think it depends on time of day (unless you're getting a refurb) but which special they're running. They seem to run the "good ones" every 3 weeks or so where they offer a free CD-RW or DVD upgrade, free shipping AND $150 rebate. Those are the deals you wanna hold out for.

Your best bet is to check the Hot Deals forum at least twice a day, in the morning and afternoon.
