I KNEW IT!
I had a hot deal going on an order that I placed last Thursday. And they cancelled it saying that I didn't provide a correct credit card number, which is bull. Now they say I can't get the same price...and I wasted my 10% coupon! I hate those bastards. But I already sold the computer so I have to order it.
I hate it when people do that.
Well when I sold it I had a confirmation number and a shipping date. I don't see anything wrong with that. I haven't taken any money, the customer doesn't expect the product for another week. So whats the problem?
Thats a HUGE no no. NEVER sell products you don't actually have in your hand. It serves you right for doing what you did. Lesson learned?
Like I said, I haven't technically made the sale yet. NO MONEY HAS EXCHANGED HANDS. Theoretically he could cancel the whole thing. So calm down. It's not like Dell is going to go out of business and I won't be able to fulfill the order. Plus, this is a custom set up. What if I was building this computer (which I might do instead)? Am I supposed to build 100 computers all with different configurations just to say I physically have them in hand? Doesn't make sense.
I'm perfectly calm. But you shouldn't make deals on products you don't actually have in hand, unless the other party is fully aware of the situation. Plus you yourself said
"But I already sold the computer so I have to order it"
How is anyone supposed to interpret that any different than a competed sale but with undeliverable items?
Finally "It's not like Dell is going to go out of business and I won't be able to fulfill the order. Plus, this is a custom set up. What if I was building this computer (which I might do instead)? Am I supposed to build 100 computers all with different configurations just to say I physically have them in hand? Doesn't make sense."
None of that made any sense. If you are selling Dell computers for a price higher than what you are purchasing them for, then you're just ripping people off. Are you running some PC sales company or something? Why can't this guy buy one himself? Also yes, you should physically build the computers, or at least have ALL parts on hand before you finalize any sales. Are you actually selling "100's" of computers? Or are you making BS analogies that make absolutely no sense. I'm lost here.
