FYI, if you don't need an operating system, for example we have Academic Alliance where we get it free, you can get dell to ship your pc sans OS.

Example

This dimension came to $319.00

Also has free shipping and free upgrade from 128MB to 256MB. Not bad if you have an OS ready to install.

Here's another config with no OS and P4 Pentium® 4 Processor at 2.66GHz with 533MHz front side bus for $349. Upgraded 80GB HD is included in price.

I didn't follow the link, but of its the Dell n-series of computers, it is worth noting that the same setup with a XP Home license is only twenty bucks more. Doesn't seem like a bad deal for a legit copy of XP Home for a friend/relative.

Strictly speaking that is not LEGIT - according to the license agreement the dell copies are to be used only on the Dell PC that they shipped with. I know that technically that can be circumwented but that makes illegal just as well... :(

I think hes saying get the PC WITH the OS installed so its legit for $20. Not to use that OS on another PC.

This is a great deal if you want to build something like a SmoothWall or Astaro Firewall and didn't have machines or parts laying around.

The upgrade is free if you already upgraded from the 40GB 5400 value model to the 40GB 7200 model which is $10 extra.

I would also like to point out further, that if you do pick the one with WindowsXP Home Edition for twenty bucks more, you also get OEM copies of WordPerect, Quattro Pro, and Microsoft Money. You don't get these with the n-series.

Just a question about the 2400N....Just looking over it, there are no options to upgrade past the onboard video.... Makes me think it may not have an AGP slot available. Nice deal, but it would make more sense to jump on one of the 400SC deals just to get more options to upgrade video. (if you care about gaming or video editing)
