Dell sells out their $10,000 gaming PC

Probably someone who will use it until his friends aren't impressed anymore. It will then sit on his desk and become outdated and worth 200 or less in two years.

It was a publicity thing. They made few enough that they knew they would sell out and therefore get a press release that would get attemtion.

Half of the spoiled rich kids on this forum were probably considering it. When your parent(s) supply everything money has no personal value.

or here on AT in the FS/FT selling for maybe 1500 USD in a year.. by then those 4 cards will be reduced to 2 much cooler running ones, Conroe will be out replacing that space heater CPU, all with some dell coupons and clocking in at less than 2 grand..

I only spent $4000 on my system a year ago and that was with a 19 inch LCD monitor and laser color printer and that was top of the line back then.

No it will show up here only by a guy with 5 posts and no heat...the blackguy avatar...and asking 13K + shipping. He will not ship first and wont accept any lowball offers (which he consideres anything under 12K "lowball") 😀

Nvidia foiund a way to do it... essentially they bolted together two 7900 PCBs... and has it connect into one PCI-E slot. They have two of these (So 4 PCBs, but ony two with PCI-E connectors) and all four have the SLI connector. Starting at the PC, number the cards 1-2-3-4, now SLI cards 1 and 3 where 1 is the connectorless card from the first pair, and 3 is the connector-ful card from the second pair. Now SLI Bridge cards 2 and 4... bam quad SLI. Requires (I guess) a special board, chipset and of course the special cards.

Wow you're a bitter idiot.

I know that the PSU in the Alienware Quad-SLI struck me as being sort of lacking for the number of cards and drives and whatnot.

Why would anyone buy that? It may be pretty fast, but in a year it will be equivalent to a $2000 machine.

Sometimes, you need to prove that your dick is bigger RIGHT NOW, no matter what the cost and the condition six months from now be damned!

I notice the PS is not the 1KW PCP&C. This would seem to be a lot better than that goofy setup they have now. It also needs an FX-60 and 4GB of RAM. I love that they emphasize how it's signed by Michael Dell. Wow. Hold me back. One thing they did get right is their "fueled by fire" slogan since it has an EE running at 4.26GHz.

And what's the deal with the physics processing unit? How many games are going to use it before this thing becomes outdated?
