Dell Precision 380

It looks like Dell is the 1st to market w/ a P4 dual core workstation. If this is any indication of the XPS Gen 5's pricing, I think Dell and Intel are pretty much out of their minds (not that AMD's pricing is very value laden either). Mind you, this is with an educational institution discount.

What is stupid about it is all you can buy is the Uber expensive EE model....at 675 bump up that puts it into 3000+ territory.....

No 840 PD I guess....

To be fair the system has a Quadro FX1400 (which my 250 card smokes!!) and crappy 80gb HDDs...

The upgrade to dual core is $675. I thought (according to Intel) that these things were supposed to go for around $160 to $180 on the open market.

Oh well, looks like Intel and Dell have found a short term opportunity to gouge prices.
