Dell pre-order on the Canon S200 digital camera, $289.10! S330, $335!

I just got the Canon case for it from buy.com for $8! Its small and has extra pockets for CF and a battery.


Anybody know of any B&M stores that may have this camera? I'd like to check one out while I'm waiting!

i read somewhere that canon messed up the release of the s200s. so now, there's an extra greater demand. i don't think any store has them.

You would think that with the release of these 2 new models, some places would be clearing out their inventory of s110's and s300's. I haven't seen any deals on those. Anyone seen a good deal on either? I've had my eye on the s110 for quite a while, but I don't want to spend $300 on it. After you buy a case, extra battery and cf card (all 3 are mandatory IMO), it gets a little expensive for my taste.

No it doesn't come with a case. You have to buy one. I am in a middle of a dispute with buy.com so I don't really want to buy from them, so I tried e*ay. I estimated out my equivelant price and bid. Silly people keep outbidding me, don't they know they can save a few buying from buy.com roll. Oh well, if anything I'll get my friend to buy it for me from buy.com (sheez $5 for shipping this thing).

Tha case offered at buy.com is the one that Canon recommends (PSC-300), it's real nice (I really tried sticking this in a PSC-100 that Fry's carried but it wouldn't fit :frown:, silly thing is I believe some people on e*ay is selling the PSC-100 for the s330, I wonder what the poeple will do when the find out they can't fit their camera in there?!). Meanwhile I got a Ambico Neo case about $10 at Circuit City, it's a nice and soft Neoprene case with a funny bulge pocket in the front where I stick my extra CF cards and battery. I picked up an DigiPower bettery for under $30 (I low priced guaranteed it at BB with CompUSA so I could use a BB gift card I got a while back)

i got the PSC-300 from buy.com today. Very nice i must say. There's a belt loop and the front pouch unzips like a book (well, the opposite direction) which was a nice surprise. I sorta wish it were more of a clip tho.

Mysterie, could you let us know the mAH rating on that digipower battery? From what i've heard, it's not on the packaging.. guess it would have to be on the battery somewhere. $30 is a nice price.. trying to decide if i should get the 1000mAH from batterybarn or not...

I've been considering canceling my twice delayed S200 and getting the A40 for about the same price, or less.

The primary difference between the A40 and the S300 is that the A40 is not a compact. Also, it doesn't come with rechargeable batteries (and charger), so that's another $35 or so. They (the AA's) will run much longer than the tiny rechargeable included with the S300, but the S300 won't immediately need new batteries, so that's a factor (in addition to size) to consider.

I think I may also have read that the Elph's have anti-glare coatings on their LCD screens while the A series do not.

So I'm thinking about this camera or getting a Fuji 2800 from BuyDig.com for $320. Anyone have thoughts to which is better? I like the 6x zoom of the fuji. Is it a big difference between the 3x?

Canons are sucky. I returned my S330 back to Dell. It was a big disappointment.

Gotta agree with Bobby Ribs...I own a S20 and it is OK...just OK.

I pre-ordered a S200 only because it is compact and wanted something smaller and lighter, not because the Canon's have a great reputation.

I'm not much of a photographer and haven't really mucked with the manual controls, but for P&S, it seems like my s330 works a lot better indoors than my Coolpix 800. However, I'm a little disappointed with the way my outdoor shots look - less vibrant and more grainy than my c800. It's been a little overcast for the past few days, so hopefully it gets a little sunnier and I can get better lighting conditions. I wish I hadn't sold my c800 now... Been thinking abt the thread with the $300 refurb c990s now

I have about 30 NiMH batteries and charger already, so the batteries weren't a issue for me. If the S330's batteries are anything like the S10s then I can promise you the first thing you'll do is buy another battery for $30+.

If the only primary difference is the A40 isn't "compact" (being compact is in the eye of the beholder, and since neither of these camera's are truly "pocketable" I don't consider either "compact") then I would put my money on the A40 anyday, especially since it's cheaper and available now instead of next month....

just something to think about.

care to expand on why canon's suck? What exactly were you expecting? And a vast majority of s30/40 and G1/2 users may have an issue w/ that statement.

I've used an s10.. had it before, returned it because of the 2x.. a mistake on my part i think. I haven't been able to take any real pictures yet (only testing w/ the camera at random indoors). So far it seems nice. Still need to compare to the s10 pictures i've had.

As for the a40/s330.. it all depends on which you like, and if it's worth it to you. They are both "compact" but neither (not even the s200 really) are "pocketable." The DimageX looks like one of the few... but that's from MY POV. Like someone mentioned before.... i just don't feel comfortable w/ a 300+ device in my kakhi pockets

This really sucks. I got i non this deal later than all of you did.

Went to the site on the 17th and it said in stock. I ordered one of the 330s and a canon scanner. Actually called in the order because I was having problems with the 15% off deal. The rep was kind enough to apply the 15% for me. Then I get the scanner today without my camera!

Check my order and it shows shipping date of 5/30!!! One of the reasons for getting this is to take it to disney with me on the 30TH of May! This is my first Digi Cam. I was so excited to see the box on the carport when i got home. Ripped it open and, huh wheres my camera!

Well, I guess Im going to have to cancel my order if it doesnt ship within the next week or so.

My S330 arrived on the 17th with a 256meg Kingston CF card I ordered too. I cant believe people are saying this camera sucks, its awesome in every aspect. Day and night shots are crystal clear, much better than the Kodak DX3900 I had before this. The size isnt too small at all, fits nicely in your hand and feels solid. I'm picking up a carrying case and extra battery as soon as i can find one.

I ordered this camera ups ground and it arrived right on time as the Dell website said it would. No complaints here. I love this camera, its a keeper for me.
