I went for the PE SC440 deal a while back and use it as a desktop. I popped in Sata 320 Gb HDD (now have a 320Gb & two 160's pre-installed), my own DVD RW and loaded XP. Am pretty happy with it. pretty rock solid. Only regret is that I had to use USB mouse & Keyboard. I use a SC 400 & a SC420 as my other desktops (USB Kb & mouse not needed). I do prefer the Dual core in the newest one.Link PRICE WAS $349 at time

hmmm....this is tempting.....toss in the 160gb drive, SATA DVD-ROM, and 512MB ram form another $40 to be $300 total! Anyone have experiences of using a server as a desktop?

3 PCI Express slots (two with x8 connector, one with x1 connector)

No x16 sucks but not surprising.

What really does x16 do for you?

So you can put in a real video card with DVI-Output. Even the cheap $50 video card I got years ago is PCIe-16x

I have an AGP vid card with DVI out, why wouldn't a 8x PCIe card have one?

According to Crucial.com this takes non-ECC memory. This does remind me a little of the 400SC deals. I think Dell is pumping up their end of fiscal year/quarter numbers again by selling their lowest end server at a very low price.
ZOMG DELL SHIPPER FIVE JIZZILLION SERVERS IN FISCAL 2007!

Just so those know, this machine will in fact support non-ECC memory. Also, there is NO integrated audio.
