go through Fatwallet for an extra 1.125% cash back (about $5). Shipping was only $20 for me.
Regular price is $916 from Dell (so $449 is more than 50% off!), and the cheaper Pentium D 915 setup goes for over $600 on ebay!
Now I know this is a weaker Pentium D system, but it's still a great price for a low end PowerEdge server.
Update (5/21/07):
this deal just got better.
Today Dell called me about my order (an English speaking American, wow), just to shoot me some prices of upgrades and see if I might be interested. The guy asked me about the dual 80gb hdd's, cpu, OS, warranty, etc. I ended up getting 2x 250gb sata2 hdd's for $20 extra each (500GB total instead of 160GB for just $40 more), and he talked me into the 3-yr warranty for only $40 more as well (online price is $119). He also offered me an upgrade to the Xeon 3060 (same as E6600) for about $120-$130 (I forget exactly), but I turned that upgrade down.
So I just got the PowerEdge SC440 for $578 shipped after tax
SC440 w/ Pentium D 925 (3.0Ghz, 4mb cache), 1mb ddr2-667, 48x cdrom, 2x 250GB SATA2 hdd's, and 3-yr's of Basic Enterprice Support (Next Business Day Service)
