I was able to get some left over Dell Poweredge 1750 server blades. I would like to format them and install general Windows XP OS on each of them. However when I try to install the WinXP OS, Windows XP Professional Setup says:

"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer".

The hard drives are in there because I can still boot the Windows 2000 OS that is currently still in the machine.

Im thinking my problem has to do with my SCSI drivers which control my hard drive. I am a total SCSI newbie. Can someone help me out by telling me what I will need to do so that Windows XP setup will recognize my hard drive?

thanks

I believe i am using the LSI Logic 1020/1030[102]

When I press F6 in WinXP Setup it asks for a floppy. I'll look into the floppy next...but im not sure if ill be able to find it.

I have the same problem as this person:

I know HP servers have a smart start cd, I imagine dell's do as well. I'd check the website to see if they have a server boot disk that installs the drivers you need as it installs the OS.

Edit: Get them from here. It's under the Systems Management, you'll want the cd iso for Installation and Server Management, I think. It should run you through the OpenManage install which will install your scsi drivers for you. Or you can get the SCSI raid drivers and either slipstream or F6 it. OpenManage is a much better choice though.
