A Q about putting faster processors on a Dell Poweredge PII/350 server.

This thing currently has a single PII/350 (S1). It can take another S1 processor.

What's the fastest processor that I can add to this server? Is a PIII possible?

Try a BIOS flash from DELL. Since the PII 350MHz comes at a 100MHz FSB, you can use PIII's with it. Just be sure to check the BIOS can handle such a processor. Dump the PII and get some matched PIII's.

Thanks - I found the BIOS updates.

Now, a secondary point of frustration: The A12 BIOS adds support for 700Mhz, the A13 does so for B0 core, and A14 for C0 core.

Bearing in mind that none of the shops I know sell slot 1 CPU's @ 100Mhz anymore, is there any way to get hold of them, kludge a solution using newer processors, etc, etc?
