Dell power connect switches... getting info off of them

Same prob as yesterday (different locale)

Anyways got some switches here, no IP listed. Got the names of them, I want to grab the config, never worked with Dell switches before, can I..

A) Telnet into them?
B) Some kind of web interface?

and how do I confirm that this is there IP address, without actually having to console in.

If I Have to console in, will hyperterminal be fine....and same settings as any other cisco VT100 emu going to work?

all of these can be answered by briefling skimming their support docs

no telnet or console, only a web interface. check the front of the device for the managed mode LED. if its off, you're in unmanaged mode and its acting as a dumb switch. if its on, the web interface should be enabled. scan for open port 80's or reset the switch all together (default ip of 192.168.2.1).

There is both console and telnet on them, actually, but thank you for your help got the info

Doing my NATing right now, SUCH A BEAST!

depends on the model...looks like theres about 5 different flavors. i was going by the 2724 on my desk.

I have a few of those out in the field.
Hpyerterminal works:
"You can access the console, using VT100 terminal emulation, from the RS232 serial port or a telnet connection. The switch offers password protection for this interface.

When the telnet session opens, select Terminal->Properties. In the Terminal Preferences dialog, verify the following settings:

Under Terminal Options, do the following:

Select VT100 Arrows.

Set Buffer Size to 25."

That was from the 3024 manual.

the CLI is a bit different, print up the pertinent pages for your model ahead of time for expediency.

Critical network management via inline channels and non-encrypted protocols.

BRILLIANT!!!

Someone tell me they've finally added at least HTTPS support. Please?

p0lar, the real managed Dell switches have had SSH for a while - the 3024 is ancient. I think they have https, but am not sure - web UI is one of the first things that get disabled if I have anything to do with it.

The 27xx series are not real managed switches, only have a web UI. They definitely support http, maybe https. Last I checked they have neither serial nor telnet/SSH CLI.
