Dell P991 Trinitron FD 367$ shipped. Good or not?

I looked at PCWorld's review of it and they said it has excellent text quality and said it is great for businesses that use it mainly for text and some graphics.

If you're really into graphics go for the NEC 950+

If it's a refurb they have to clearly indicate that before you buy it. Otherwise just complain and they will fix it for you.

Junior Member:I got mine today (sort of). Small box, with yellow sticker says *refurbished*...somehow this was not mentioned when I ordered it. Anyway, I open the box and there is no soundcard. Instead there is a cheesy little Lucent modem (model V1456VQH89B INT). These guys sure have an eye for detail-lucky they can even put a computer together at all. Box shows 38FRH CRD, MM, AUD, SANTA CRUZ....but what you get inside could be a surprise. Why couldnt they have accidently slipped in a P4, or a T-bird, 512MB DIMM, or a geforce 3?? So anyway, back it goes...waste of time...

the dell monitor is a sony made model that uses the same tube as the g400. don't know if its the same case but it is the same case they use on suns. i mean exactly the same, buttons and all. the only difference is the sun logo instead of the dell logo. this does not have BNC inputs. which i think the g400 has. i'm almost thinking about picking up a second p991 but i don't have enough desk space. oh well. out.

the DELL 21(BLACK) inch as DUAL INPUTS for the PC u can hook up 2 monitor cable and use 2 pc just use the switch to IMPUT 1 or IMPUT 2

thats what mine has but its the BLACK version i dont know about the white version but its the same model so dont take my word for it

I've got the P96 by IBM, also a Sony clone. Dual inputs, no USB hub.

This thing is beautiful. I paid $299 (including shipping) for it off of ebay back around Christmas time.

Decent monitor. I bought a new one last year for $249 from ubid.com. OK, it was an online bid. I believe they have similar deals going all the time. If you don't hate the fuss of online auction, try it there.

When I bough my Dell P991 I bought it with a Dimension 4100 P3/866 system, upgraded to the 3 year warranty which covers PC and monitor.

Peace of mind on an expensive monitor is good.

Got my order in just in time (30 min before). I currently have a Dell P990 and like it a lot but it's only flat in the vertical direction so the 991 will be better. Also, I need a monitor for a new computer. I hope the grey models are nice since that is what color it available. Thanks for posting this deal.

I have received 3 Sony G400s and 1 P991. All of them have this problem, more or less. So I suppose all trinitron tube has potential problem of focus(convengence, actually). And they do not provide Area Adjustment.
On the sony I currently have, I found that the top screen needs Convengence 48, while the bottem needs 60. So I compromised 55.
However, on this P991, the top needs 38 and the bottom needs 70!!!! It can not be tolerated so that it's going back. Dell's return is nice though.

I don't know if all P991s are like that. But it's not supposed to. I am tired monitor-exchanging. So I decided to keep the final Sony and return P991. I bought the Sony from Gateway for 450$. Now it's time to PM with Dell's 20% off using my AMEX.
