I gurantee you AMD can't match Intel's prices number 1. I read Intel costs them $20 per chip AMD costs $35 due to fixed costs which can not be amortized like intels volume can. Second AMD can not sell Dell enough chips if they do "catch on" so it's a supply issue.

But the main reason IMO is Intel offers a sweet deal to DELL to throw AMD proposals in the garbage can.

Advertise with what? peanuts?

You need money to advertise, especially the way you're talking about AMD has no stock to sell and has no cash. Any cash they do have they better put into R&D to maintain their performance parity or lead.

Dell does not carry AMD due to illegal kickbacks or anti-trust law breaking, under the table deals. It's simply a supply and demand issue.

AMD cannot guarantee the supply Dell requires.

I know you guys would be very happy if Dell did carry AMD. But you really need to take a step back, and put yourself in Dell's shoes. (Obviously keeping in mind how successful they are.) Ask yourself how using AMD processors can make more money for Dell.

Do you really think their demand will go up? Keep in mind that the people who might write a letter to theinquirer are not people who will buy from Dell.

Dell is a business, and their only loyalty (like any business) is to making money. If they felt that using AMD would be a boon to their business, then they'd change it in a heartbeat.
