hey i am thinking of a laptop (around the 1500 - 1800 (probably 1500) i'm thinking is what my desktop will sell for).
I'm not sure what to get. Graphically i am lokoing for somethign that can play games at low-medium settings... i'm not sure how laptop graphic cards are and was just looking for some help in this area... the macbook pro's 256mb gfx compared to like dell's e1505 or e1705 i gues i'm not sure.. those seem popular. Other than that i pritty much want at least a gig of ram 100-120 gig hard drive, dvd-rw/cd-rw.

your suggestions would be great

I'd get a MBP if it was my choice

but the dell is pretty nice the 15.4 video card upgraded is like a X1400 though which sucks
that 17'' is nice but also has a high res but you can get a good video card.

you want to find a laptop with a good video card but also with a lower resolution so your video card doesn't have to struggle as much.

edit: I also wanted to make a note saying the X1600 is underclocked on the MBP but not by much now it was much worse with the core duo 1.

well i would be getting a refurbished MBP so it would still be core duo 1 with ati radeon x1600 128mb gddr3 ... is there a way to clock it back up to regular speed without too much heat problems... as well i would probably choose the e1505 or lower for dell (15" screen since it's a laptop i don't want a huge machine) and for e1505 is the x1400 (or x1300 ) better or worse than the MBP x1600? I don't know a lot about laptop graphics cards... and would the core duo vs. core duo 2 be a big hit in performance..?? ... keep in mind i probably will keep this laptop until end of college. (2010)

as well kep in mind the apple refurbished one i would be getting is the 1400 one (the 15" laptop ones).

if $1500 is what you end up spending, get a decked out MacBook or something. MacBook Pro will be hard to come by at $1500.

it's just as fast as the MBP.

well macbook's do not have a any gfx card besides integrated and i'd prefer a non-integrated one.
