Dell OptiPlex GX270 and SCSI controller

Hello. here's the problem I hope someone will help me with:

I have a standard configuration Dell OptiPlex GX270 (FDD, IDE HDD, IDE CD-Rom; IDE HDD is C: and has WinXP on it). I just added a Tekram SCSi controller and Seagate SCSI HDD. I want to use SCSI HDD as secondary storage, as I am running out of space on primary IDE HDD. when booting, IDE is supposed to take precedence over SCSI. But with SCSI HDD plugged in, the PC tries to boot to the SCSI HDD, and not IDE one. How can I fix this and have it boot to the IDE HDD?

Thanks

Have you checked boot order in the BIOS?

Also, if you have a video card by Nvidia in that system with the NV34 or 18 core, call dell and bitch for a new one ;)

That's the thing - it is castrated Dell BIOS and the only options it gives are:

Hard Drive
Floppy Drive
CD-ROM

nothing else. I've no idea how to fix this.

Also, the SCSI disk has a BIOS as well.

tekram manual mentions some BIOS versions that have incompatibility issues, but the one i have is OK, according to them.

and SCSI controller BIOS settings are only needed to be used when I want to set up SCSI boot order and such, and I don't.

I was referring to perhaps a BIOS conflict but you said you checked so that's fine.

What BIOS revision is it? A lot of times they fix crap like this.

the PC is at home at this moment, but I am fairly sure it's the newest.

Find out which one it is. Your system should be booting IDE as the primary device as you said.
