I recently re-formatted my friend's laptop removing Vista and installing XP. Her laptop is a Dell and came with Office 2007 pre-installed. Is there anyway to download the full version legitimately?
If she has her installation discs, use them. If not, does she have a certificate with the license key printed on it? If so, then you could try downloading the trial version and entering her license key: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/FX102855291033.aspx I've never tried this, so I'm not sure it'll fly, but there's nothing to lose by trying except a bit of time.
Also, ask her to contact Dell and see what they can do. Dell is really good about supplying Windows disks, but I've never asked them about Office disks.
If I recall correctly, the keys for Office only determine which of the Office suites you can install, such as Utltimate or Pro or Student.
Certain keys will only allow install of certain parts of Office. Dell should be able to provide the media for all installed applications, even if you need to pay a few $$ to get the discs. This is why I will never buy a new computer without being sure I ask for & get all the cds for the OS & Apps.
