Dell Notebook Screen Question

I just received my new Inspiron 8100 Notebook. I have never used a notebook or LCD screen and was wondering if my screen is normal or if there is something wrong with it. Basically the bottom half of the screen is brighter and the colors are more washed out than the top half of the screen. You can really notice when you compare the blue bar across the top of the screen when Internet Explorer is open with the taskbar across the bottom of the screen. The top is a nice rich blue color and the bottom is a faded light blue. Also, the green Start button is a pale green color compared to what I have on my desktop computer with a normal monitor.

Mine looks OK.....I have the UXGA. Have you tried different resolutions? Have you tried turning the brightness down (in BIOS)? Have you tried different colored backgrounds to see if it's just the blue drive?

Color saturation on LCD is usually not as "solid looking" compared to a CRT, and the black level is rarely even close.....

FWIW

I havent tried changing anything except with the contrast and brightness controls located on the keyboard. They dont seem to make much of a difference. I wasnt aware there were any controls in the bios. I guess I will check that out and see what that does.

I also notice as I move my head closer to the keyboard so I am looking straight at the bottom of the screen the colors get richer and darker.

That is normal for LCD's. Though, it is more noticable on the Dell Inspiron's from what I have heard/seen.
