dell memory upgrade

hey all,

i tried posting in tech issues but i got no responses. so i'll try here...

i have a dell dimension 4600 - 2.66 ghz and i just replaced my ram with two sticks of dell 512 ram (pc3200). problem is, my computer only shows 333 in the bios.

before the upgrade, i was running two sticks of 512 kingston (pc2700) and before that, the factory installed ram.

any help would be appreciated. thanks.

My guess is that your motherboard only supports PC2700 speeds at max and your PC3200 downclocks to 333MHz.

Your processor uses a 533MHz FSB. You need a 800MHz FSB bus processor for the memory to run at PC3200 speeds.

do you guys know if i can upgrade my processor or is that impossible on dells?
