Hot damn, people. The mother of all Dell leaks just dropped into our laps, and the absolute highlight has to be the Lightning, a Windows Phone 7 portrait slider. That's right -- a portrait slider. The renders on these slides look slick as hell, but they're no match for the spec sheet, which looks even better: 1GHz QSD8250 Snapdragon processor, WVGA 4.1-inch OLED display, AT&T and T-Mobile 3G, five megapixel autofocus camera, 1GB of flash with 512MB RAM plus 8GB of storage on a MicroSD card (non-user-replaceable, we're assuming), GPS, accelerometer, compass, FM radio, and full Flash support including video playback. Release date is pegged at Q4, so this is obviously a WP7 launch device, but here's the real kicker -- other slides in the deck indicate this thing is getting an upgrade to LTE in Q4 of 2011. Are we stoked? Yes, you might say that. Check out all the slides in the gallery below, and stay tuned -- this storm of leaks isn't nearly over.

Normally I don't like sliders and physical keyboards *glares at Droid* but this is one hot looking phone. Very nice Dell.

oh look, another phone with a fucking camera.

If you aren't use to this trend now then... uhh...

The Dell Thunder (Android) looks pretty cool also. Honestly, the phone competition is looking pretty awesome and looks like everyone is trying to step up their game.

AT&T and T-Mobile though... :hmm:

^ OK?

Any how I was happy till I saw Those networks suck.

By the time this is out, T-Mobile should be 21Mbps across most of their network. Faster than anything AT&T or Verizon has to offer, and likely more widespread than WiMax on Sprint by that point. Sounds good to me.

The phone's ugly as sin to me, but if the OS is good I'd consider picking one up.

On a related note. Look at all the Dell on Android phones as well. Holy jawdropping mother of pearl. Also on Engadget.

Is it just me, or does Windows Mobile 7 seem.... chaotic? I don't know. Maybe I'm missing something but the OS does not look good, AT ALL. Perhaps it will perform well, it just seems unorganized. *shrugs*

WTF happened to dell? They actually have good designers now? Too bad these are just rendersm though. But I really like their mini Androids.

I played with the leaked ROM via the emu and it's actually kinda slick. Not sure I'd pick it over Android, but the UI definitely feels smooth. As for looks I guess that's subjective, but I think it's an attractive design.

I'm not sure if I would expect anything different from you.

I don't like how it looks at all, but I'd be willing to buy it if the OS is good. You probably think of me as an Apple fanboy huh? Yet I'm interested in an UGLY phone. I doubt you expected that from me. Anyone who cares more about form than function is a 'tard.

what dont you like about the looks of it? except for a couple extra buttons and corners, its pretty much similar to an iphone.

i hope there is still some OS control in wp7 like we have in 6.x, i really do like the interface/ flow of the zune software so far.

T

he most likely has a GOV job or works for a company that wont let you have cellphones with cameras in them. We cant, you can actually get fired on the spot for simply having them unless you sign the wavier that says they can search your phone/SD card for pics whenever they want and if you have pics of anything work related on their your out on your ass

in terms of the Dell phones, both looks nice, however i wish the one with the hardware KB would be avail with android as well, the moto being the only VZ android phone with a real KB is somewhat annoying.

If you replaced the Dell logo on the back with half eaten fruit, he'd probably consider it a work of art ;)

The phone look sexy as hell but thats a FAT phone.
The spec say its 14.9mm when the Droid is 13.7mm.
Phones without a slider is now hovering at the ~10mm mark.
If they can make the Droid at 13.7mm future sliders need to be as thin as that if not thinner.
Anway, had Palm made their Pre like that with their Webos, they wouldn't be in the position they are now.

Well, the Droid is also ridiculously thin for a slider - and that's supposedly why the keyboard kinda sucks.

T-Mobile Dream (G1) - 17.1mm
Palm Pre - 16.9mm
HTC Touch Pro2 - 17.8mm
Samsung Moment - 16mm

At 14.9mm its actually a bit thinner than most sliders on the market right now.

I don't know. For me, the Droid is almost too thin to type on comfortably. I got an Otterbox case for it and the added thickness is a big improvement.

I hate the 3 hard buttons at the bottom, especially with them having unchangeable icons. I don't like to be told "this button will do this, this button will do that" Even if you can change what they do in the settings, I'd still be stuck with buttons that are labeled to do shit I wouldn't be using. It looks tacky as hell IMHO, and if the iPhone had shipped like this I wouldn't have bought one. The buttons remind me of my OOOOLD mono-chrome Palm PDA, just really bad looking.
