I got a rather vague email from Dell SB saying that they are dropping the price of some laptops to $399, starting tomorrow 11/23/2005. I'll post more details when I have them.

Edit 1: The email said this, ""Starting tomorrow Inspiron 2200 notebook from $399 - lowest price ever on a Dell notebook" "HURRY! Offer valid from 11/23/05-11/27/05.""

Edit 2: The Base model (2200) spec's:

Intel® Celeron® M Processor 370 (1.50 GHz/1MB Cache/400MHz FSB)
Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition
14.1in XGA Display
256MB,Onboard Shared DDR,1 DIMM
40GB1 5400rpmUltra ATA Hard Drive
24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive
No productivity suite- Corel WordPerfect word processor only
No Wireless Selected
Integrated Network Card
90 Day Mail-In Parts and Labor, 90 Day Phone HW Warranty3 Support

Your post was first, but this one includes a link.

Thanks for understanding.

Go to http://www.dell.com
small business
notebooks
view all Inspirons
But what are the specs on the $399 system?

If we knew that it would be - 11/23/05-11/27/05. 🙂

Yeah, but we were getting xps 400's, those will be Dimension 2400's 😀

LOL....a 2.8 celeron is a 2.8 celeron no matter how much more chromed out the case's front panel is.

FWIW, Wal-Mart will have HP Laptops for $378 on black Friday, no rebates needed. Sempron 2800, 256 ram, 40 gb HD, CDRW/DVD, 15" screen. I work there and my store is getting 20, so you'll have to be in line I guess.

Uh, they don't offer celerons in xps 400's, Pentium 630's and 820's is what I was getting. BIG difference between an xps 400 and a dimension 2400, that's for sure.

You were paying $299 for XPS 400's? I thought those were mostly 4700's.

In any case, these will be Dimension 3000's. Plus you get a free printer.

Yeah, for some of them. $350, $400 for some. I got a few different config's. All the systems I picked Thur night were xps 400's. UPS is about to drop off a ton of them any minute now. I'm hoping I got room for all of them.

I don't see the deal at Dell SB yet, but it does say "Inspiron 2200 Notebook with FREE Internal Wireless card and FREE Color Printer from only $399! Get great holiday savings, including our lowest notebook price ever!"

Don't know when they get around to updating the site. I'll keep checking.

Up now http://www1.us.dell.com/content/product...px/hot_offers_nb?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd

has $100 MIR

Hate the way Dell plays the shell game., Yeah they have a $400 notebook, but with a 90 day warranty, Add $39 for a year, upgrade from 14 tp 15" screen add some more. an extra 256K of ram add $50, shipping/ handling/ Tax welcome to your $600 notebook
The Toshiba at CC even with paying for AOL is a better deal. Even after upgrading the Toshiba battery for $110, you are ahead of the game.

1. Not everyone likes larger screens.

2. Buy your RAM somewhere else.

3. Assuming a liberal $50 for shipping, you would have to have a two digit tax % to be paying $600 for that computer.

I'm getting the basic system with internal wireless, a printer, and 2 year on-site warranty. Total = 578 + 24 shipping + 40 tax (eesh) - 100 MIR - 78 MIR on warranty = 464. Eh?

EDIT: That's $642 out of pocket, FYI.
