Does anyone here know of a vendor or two for replacement CCFLs for laptop LCDs complete with wires to plug in? I've found a replacement that I would have to solder through Google. I would rather just drop a new one in.

Just for information the screen is a Dell LP154W01 (TL)(F3) 15.4" WXGA in a Dell Vostro 1000.

Thank you,
Barry

Yeah, eBay is your friend for replacement parts - you can get them there usually for the fraction of the price replacement part etailers are selling them. In some cases I rather bought a new laptop kb on eBay for less than half the price my (one-way) shipping to the mfr's repair center would've cost me. :)

Just did a search of ebay. Didn't see one with wires.
I agree; I use eBay a lot.

We support a lot of Dell Latitudes at work. When the CCFL's go out we usually replace the whole display, it's just a few screws, a plug or two, and the wireless antenna. I'd go that route for the sake of ease... unless of course the lamps by themselves save you a lot of money.

Are you sure it's the bulb and not the inverter? If you've never done a bulb replacement before I would suggest replacing the whole panel. $89 bucks gets you a brand new screen and alot less headache.

Edit: Actually it might not be that cheap for a Dell. I see many Dells at work that if you don't get the exact Dell replacement screen, the brightness controls do not work properly.

Already replaced the inverter. Took over a month from China!
Would like to replace the screen. That is easy. Trying to save a buck.
