umm...wouldn't it stand to reason if they're selling AMD cpu's they're also selling systems that will use them?

i just don't see why they would sell just the cpu

Me neither. Seems weird. They can do whatever they want though.

they sell extremely limited AMD items to companies that won't buy from dell unless they get special orders filled. (like a company that buys opterons for specific sql apps, but all dell's for thier pc's)

Thye might have an exclusive agreement with Intel for their systems, and just waited this long to use a semantic loophole to sell stand alone AMD parts.

Any coupon codes available for these? I would love to stack a 20% off coupon and get an X2 4400+ CPU. :)

what is going on is that dell doesn't really have much in the way of inventory, about everything is drop shipped from the distributor, and dell just SKUs up about everything that is in the distributor's warehouse. which might include AMD processors.

They have done this for a while now, the last time someone caught on to it and said something Dell removed all of the products rather quickly.

Intel: Creator of the Microprocessor.
Intel: Creator of the DRAM.
Intel: Creator of UV-EPROM.
Intel: Creator of Flash-EPROM.
Intel: Co-founded by Bob Noyce, Inventor of the IC process used up to this day (planar process).
Intel: Co-founded by Gordon Moore, i.e. Moore's Law.

AMD: Copied Intel designs from day 1, will always be a me-too organization. How can it even be compared?

If that's the case, every modern automobile and production line is a rip of Benz and Ford respectively

What does that have to do with anything? That's a retarded analogy. And I'm an Intel fanboi.

Not at all retarded. It says that one company is innovating, the other is a leech. Make sense Doof?

No they can't. Intel has Dell wrapped around their sucky finger. I wouldn't be suprised if that page disappeared after too long. This kind of reminds me of the Dell n series...

Which company had dual-core out first?
Which company's entry-level dual-core processor beats Intel's $999 top-of-the-line dual-core at less than half the power consumption?
Which company's Itanium chips are a complete joke?

Yeah, because NetBurst is quite the innovation.
Also read NFS's post. By your logic, you should be driving a Porsche, since they innovated the mid-engine rear drive layout, and GM leeched the idea for the Fiero.

I've always said, that if Dell could come out w/ AMD systems.......(which they've hinted at for a long time now)........they could eeeeeasily come out w/ the $99 computer!!!!!!!

Think about a Sempron 2500 system w/ 48x burner, 256mb ram & a 40gb HD. EEEEAAZILY done by *them* (not you or I, but them) for $99!!!

And everybody would be so happy with their $99 system, they'd wonder WTF they were ever doing buying Intel systems that cost a minimum of twice as much & Intel would be shown as the POS whore prima donna that they THINK they are!

There's always an original, an innovator. Does it mean anything else that comes along cannot be compared with the original? I don't even begin to understand your argument about how AMD can even be compared.
