I didnt think that Dell would ever do such a thing. I dont think dell would actually get rid of amd, they would just do both. Would dell use a via chipset or are they waiting for something more reliable, possibly the nforce.

EDIT: I'm saying this about via, because they cant get things like usb working.

Just the fact that they are considering AMD is enough to give me a jolt;)

Yea, now you can really recommend dell for people who want value and performance I'm guessing.

My take on it is Dell can use the poll to exercise pressure on Intel.

BTW- I took it- and rated AMD about 5 points above Intel (aggregate)

I thought the divide by 11 question was a good idea, so people can make it clear what areas each company excells in and by how much.

Cool! hopefully we will see AMD at Dell, or if Dell doesn't feel comfortable selling AMD, they could use a different brand for AMD lines (they could buy a Gateway or something and turn in it into their AMD line)

I voted for AMD, hopefully Dell will start putting Athlons into some of their high-end configs., because for people who aren't comfortable building their own, and good company like Dell making an Athlon system would be a great reccomendation.

I'm wondering if this won't be a loaded poll?;) NFS4 how did you find this????;) I'm asking because, I recently bought a Dell Lappy and had this poll link emailed to me......so, I called two other guys I know whom have also purchased from Dell lately.....they too got the poll......thing is, I have yet to find an advertisement, or hear of anyone else receiving this poll!;)

Great find NFS4.......at least there should now be a few votes for AMD!;)

I wonder if they actually read the comments. I made sure to make my arguments logical but I bet it was pointless :(

I think the inclusion of other chip manufacturers is Dell's way of hiding the fact that they want to know how badly consumers want AMD processors. Kinda like buying a bunch of magazines, and trying to slip a porno in without anyone noticing.

Heh - I like this question:

6. Assume you are in the process of purchasing a new desktop computer for your home.
Also assume that the two desktop computers you are considering have IDENTICAL product features with one exception.

One desktop computer has an Intel Pentium III 1 GHz processor and is priced at $1099.
The second desktop computer has an AMD Athlon 1 GHz processor and is priced at $1049.

Do I sense that Dell want to buy the cheaper Athlons & sell the box at "permium" Intel prices? Oh yes ... hmmm ... could hurt AMD's image of being "obviously cheaper" if the difference in terms of Dell is 50 $. Of course, Dell would be raking in a lot more profit with such a scheme - but heh. As long as I don't have to buy from them with such pricing all is well :).

I hope you guys give intelligent answers, and not "aMd RuLeZ!", 'cause we need lots of intelligent votes, that way they'll actually be considered.

I think the problem they don't understand though is that many of us taking the survey that know the difference in the cpu's would prefer to build our own or upgrade our own PC's anyway. It's the newbies that think Intel is the $hit that are likely to buy a Dell to begin with. The survey is pointless unless it's made to actual customers.
