Not a good deal compared to the ASUS EEE, or the Lenovo if you can find it.

The cheap EEEs all have the "Intel Mobile CPU" vs the Atom in the Dell. All the EEEs I can find with Atoms cost over $500.

Kind of disappointing, the Acer Aspire One seems to be a better deal. The Mini 9 has a slightly larger battery, though.

Just let me know...

Although it costs a little more (not much after MS Cash Back) I like the EEE 1000H. It can handle up to 2gb RAM (Dell supports 1), 10 inch non-glossy (reflect the world) screen, standard bluetooth(optional on dell), standard 1.3 cam(.3 standard on dell), 6-cell battery vs. 4 and although it's heresy, the idea of a large 80gb hard drive sure sounds good to me. Of course I am biased, I just ordered one from JR.com the day BEFORE their cashback changed from 12.5% to only 6%.

You can get the acer for $350 w/ 120g drive, windows, and a 3 cell battery. Even adding on the cost of an additional 6 cell battery, it looks to still be a better deal

I wish the stupid-asses at best buy would get that Acer in stock. It sold out completely in 2 days and they don't get more of them? Idiots.

What I mean is, I have trouble even getting Acer on the phone. Dell at least answers, though I can't understand them.

dell specs are - 4g SSD drive(wow??), 512megs, linux, no webcam, 8.9" screen, 4cell batt., same proc, GMA950 vid card
for 350

that's what i've gathered so far... IMO the 4g SSD drive is not worth it.. such a handicap.. The other specs are fine with the exception of linux perhaps, and no webcam(should come standard). Even though the upgrades are 25bucks here and there.

I think this is very good for size but not too good for power. Probably at $400ish range you can get more RAM//HD combo on a larger notebook type machine. But of course you ain't getting the same battery hours or the lighter weight.

You're kidding right? Dell probably has the best tech support out of any of the big computer manufacturers. If something breaks, all you have to do is call them up, tell them, and they'll ship you a new item via next day air, and pay for shipping both ways. Most companies would have you send your item into them on your dime, and then after some time, send it back to you.

Actually that 6-cell costs about $119 from what I've heard. OF course by then you'd have two battery packs so that's true. It only has a 8.9 screen (glossy I think) and none of the neat buttons in the front. Like the speed (800mhz to 1.9 I think), resolution changer, and one customizable. I was torn between the two myself but wanted the battery life out of the box more than anything, and everything I've ever owned from ASUS has been ROCK solid.

Not the prices I was expecting, but good to see competition I guess.

WTF is up with "Buy a laptop get another for $99"? Why not buy a decent desktop get the mini for $99?

The MSRP for the acer has been dropped to $350. Microcenter has them, but only for in store pick up (and they are out of stock at most stores)... BB had them... basically IF you can track one down, you can expect to pay $350.

Yup, I had a motherboard with the integrated video going out and chatted with support for about 15 minutes. A guy came to my house the next day and replaced it, zero charge.

$99 deal is not hot. It's only valid on four e-value codes, all of which are a minimum $1000. The mini 9 is basically replacing the discount you'd get off of the laptop, which in some cases appears to be more than the price of the mini 9.

Good news is that you can customize the mini 9 on the accessories page, so that you can get the webcam or bluetooth, etc.
