I use a USB mouse 99% of the time but if I have to take the laptop into the field or use it in the car, the USB mouse can't really be used so I depend on the touch pad.
Unfortunately when I'm typing, I somehow touch the pad and it clicks on certain parts of the screen. How do I set it so that if I attach a USB mouse it disables the pad, or some other way of manually controlling the touch pad w/o installing the Dell software that conflicts with my USB mouse (prevents manual settings for the scroll wheel and button macros).
I called Dell and they basically told me to STFU and reinstall Windows XP because that solves everything.
