I have the dell inspiron 6000 with the integrated Intel processor. I'd like to upgrade the card to do a little light gaming and get better performance in Photoshop and Flash (I'm a web developer). I've checked with Dell and got the word that yes, this laptop CAN be upgraded, getting an offer of a 64mb card (around $120) or a 128mb card (around $150). I'd rather not pay Dell's prices (and their techs) to upgrade the card so I'm going to take my laptop to a local certified technician to avoid shipping and inflated prices.
I've done some research and found that the most common upgrade to this laptop appears to be the ATI x300 128mb card. I think I found that card on Pricewatch for around $60. At that price I'm wondering if they make a 256mb version, and if that version would work in my laptop.
So I'm asking if anyone knows about this laptop in particular and it's possible upgrades. Talking to Dell support is a little frustrating since most of the customer services reps are not technicians.
Anyway, any input or feedback on my upgrade plan is welcome. I came here first because I've heard that you all know your stuff.
