Seems like a good price on an i3 laptop. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about these models? The reviews I saw say the battery life is disappointing, but they were reviewing the one with ATi graphics.

Damn, I'm in the market for a laptop/notebook and am currently leaning to the hp e350 with the 3G ram and 350gb 7200rpm hdd for $412.

nice..just got a HP G42-230us last week for $399 at staples, the HP has an AMD Turion II Dual-Core Mobile Processor P520,ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250, 4GB RAM and a 320GB Hitachi 7200RPM HD and ...is this a better buy for the CPU? how much faster is this CPU? I am using it for general email, surfing, remote connect to work PC,nothing high intensity stuff.
officemax or depot has the HP G42-230us for $369 shipped if anyone is interested.

your current laptop is more than capable for your use. You also have a larger HD and more RAM.

The P540 cpu is a little slower. GPUs seems about even. But you shouldn't notice a difference with what you're using it for as richierich1212 stated. I think you got a good deal. Also the hard drive on the Dell (at 5400 rpm) is 'really difficult' to upgrade. Taking the entire notebook apart.

I am of the opinion DELL is a better buy, just because it seems that spare parts are a lot easier to come by for DELLs.

I have had enough of Dell from work and will never give them money for any product.

I'm looking for an inexpensive laptop as well for Mobile DJ'ing and some light Photoshop work. I currently have a Dell Inspiron 6000 (singlecore 2.8ghz that's about 6 years old). It runs OK but freezes up from time to time. I just want something slightly faster. I'd like to stay around $400 or under. Thoughts on these two? I didn't see that HP listed above for $369 anymore.
