Dell gives no information on the graphics other than "integrated graphics". Can anyone say whether the 1200 uses Intel GMA900 or Extreme 2?

Just a FYI.

We have 50 Inspiron 1100 and 50 1150's..... we use them for the rare time when we need to train an entire site..... they're handled with great care, and stored properly.

So far, with less that 40 hours use, we've had about 15 laptops die.....just stopped working.

Another issue is two different types of USB keyboard (ergo and non-ergo) dont' work in upper USB port on back of laptop, and the lower port doesn't recognize any of our barcode scanners (keyboards are 50mA, barcode are 100-200mA). Optical mice work fine in either port. Pretty odd.....

I'd personally stay away from this model just to save a few $$

My $.02 of experience.

What socket would that chip be? I applied for a credit card at 7.99apr and part of the incentive was a free Dell 1200 if I transferred over $5000, which I did. Didnt care about the laptop as I have too many already. Was just gonna ebay it. Just want to know what socket it is just in case I can upgrade it.

Your issues as far as reliability sound questionable, and are balanced out by my experience. We have 30 or so 1100s (or maybe 1150s, can't remember) at work that we check out to college students during the school year for 3 day periods. Those machines certainly see a fair amount of abuse, and we've only had issues with 1 or 2 (failed AC adapter in one, random HD failure in another).

They aren't built like tanks, but for the price they could be a lot worse.

Just a note on the deal.

The tech specs show that the standard battery is Ni-Mh, with a fairly poor life. If you pick up this laptop, you'd probably be much better off in the long run going with the Li-ion battery (that is, assuming you plan on using the laptop unplugged, which a surprising number of laptops aren't used for).

Details on the credit card you applied for?

Got a link or a phone number and promo/offer code?
