This is a place to post hot deals not problems with your rebate or problems with your ability to read & comprehend the packaging slip.

Yeah. What's wrong?

What's wrong is that you're an idiot and I have to kick you square in the nuts. C'mere...

Once again I'm glad that I cancelled my 8250 order after the whole FedEx fiasco, the $560 - $760 in pending rebates and now this.

How many of you bought it? and How many of you bought it at the evening, Nov. 26?

If you bought at Nov 25, 26 ON LINE, you probably will get troubles to get your rebate money back.

because the order date on your PACKING SLIP will very likely be 12/??/2002 as mine, you will not be
qualified for most rebates (qualified only for the order date on the packing slip bt 11/21~11/26/2002)

Don't be alarmed. The packing slip shows TWO dates one is the "ORDER DATE" which is the important one (showing 11/26/02 for me), the other is the [Shipped] "DATE" which doesn't really matter. If the ship date was important, rebates for purchases over the net would be impossible to guarantee (hence, false advertising?!? or something like that).

This is isolated, if you have this problem you need to call Dell.
Make sure you look @ the ORDER DATE. Not the date in the far left hand column.

only $710 😛

and my 2nd day was still < 90 bucks.

course im actually a staff at a college so that helps a bit... dunno about you but i think tons of people are expecting to rip off dell. i halfway hope they deny them.

Well, that whole deal would probably explain why there are a RASH od 8250's with identical barebones configurations for sale on EBay. I'll bet a great number of people bought it for "maybe 60 bucks" and turned around and sold it on EBay. There are at least 30 Dell 8250's with the 2.4 Ghz processor, 256 megs PC1066, onboard sound, and the rest of the barebones deal. I won an auction for one for $500.00. I couldn't have gone for the great deal anyhow, since I am not a student or affiliated with a school.

My new 8250 should be here this week, after which I will remove most of my components from my 8200, and turn around and sell it.😀

actually dell did try to get out of a rebate deal like this before (a year agao?). with the help of a cnet reporter (i believe) things got straightened out... good luck to all
btw, it's not this thread, in case anybody is searching (like me)
too many dell deals for a 28.8...

Rossman,

With most respect to your Grand Poo Bah status, a lot of folks did order this unit. I appreciate your posts, and in fact your many posts about wanting to do this deal fueled my desire to purchase this deal and use Fedex as my Pseudo ground delivery.

However, what other thing does your comment do except say to us junior Anandtechers that either:

1. We're not as lucky as you are who backed out of this deal.
2. We just might be fools for jumping on this deal.

We took a chance here.

Frankly, I don't think there's any way I can lose. I turned around and Ebay'd my system for $762 after shipping and Final Value Fee. The system cost me $893 after shipping from Fedex. So the worst I can do is lose $131.

Or maybe I would have just bought and enjoyed the system for the next 5 years for $893.

Anyway, even though the Fedex thing wasn't in any way your fault (you were just trying to save us some $$). It's not cool to nah nah , boo boo that you didn't get screwed like the rest of us.

i agree with that last post,we all took a chance here, but for those of us who are students or facutly it is'nt much of a chance because we ARE eligible for the rebates. The only major problem people are having is with shipping, i am one of those people, but i'm sure dell will work something out with me. I'm not looking for free shipping or something like that, just compensation down to a more reasonable amount. but who knows, we'll see i guess.

If you ordered on 11/26, received a order acknowledgement on 11/26 . . . then you have proof that you ordered in time. You will be qualified for ALL the rebates. Nothing to worry about here folks . . .

the CSR of Dell told me the only valid one is the order date on your PACKING SLIP. (Pls check the pdf rebate form)

ORDER DATE and SHIP DATE are 2 different things and both are generally referenced on the packing slip.... no big deal.

It's hard to believe all the b*tching that has gone on with this deal. I and 3 of my friends all ordered the system on the night of the 26th. All of our packing slips have the correct order dates, we had no problems with shipping, and we are all tickled pink to have a system for either $100 or $200 - assuming that Dell comes through with the rebates - which I belive they will.
