Dell - Horrible Experience

Dells automated system accepted, confirmed then day later, cancelled my order.

spending all day on phone with them to resolve this issue, even at one point having the bank, on the phone with them 3-way. They still couldn't complete a transaction, that had been cancelled. leaving the balance for the purchase stuck in limo. Which the bank tells me could be 8 business days.

I have all requirered info: transaction ID's from the bank side, my Dell order/customer number

So I am left with no order, no money to go elsewhere till the holds time out. Dell is basically getting an interest free loan for x-amount days, and every day I go without a machine damages are being accrued with legal fees.

I don't even want their laptop anymore, I want revenge!

My advice to friends and family, after this experience and reading countless other very similar posts is NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH DELL!

Ordered a $20 256gb SSD from them once and they cancelled it. Bastards.

I'll be sure to sell any stock I may own of Dell. This obviously will be a burden for them.

I love my dell laptop, but I ordered it from Amazon. Everything worked out smoothly like it usually does.

It's likely that there was a problem with validating the order, such as using a bank account in California but asking to have the laptop shipped to an address in some other country.

Next time use a credit card (hopefully your own ;) ) and ship to the card's billing address.

every day I go without a machine damages are being accrued with legal fees.

Dream on.

Sounds to me like it was not Dells problem! Sounds to me like it was a user error as in you didn`t know what you were doing!! Nice introductory first post!! You will fit right in......

All businesses have problems from time to time. If everyone stopped shopping where other people have had minor problems, nobody would be in business.

Get over yourself.

I worked at Hell dell for 3 1/2 yrs, if you think their external support is bad, you should see how they treat their employees...........

What, exactly do you mean by this? Do you expect to sue them (successfully) and have them reimburse you for the waiting time, your legal fees, as well as "damages" suffered by not getting your new PC with next-day shipping?

I get that you might need this for work or something, but... #firstworldproblems

I just had a similar experience w/ HP...put in my order, scheduled shipment date (not delivery date) was 2 weeks out. The next day my apartment floods, I need to either change shipping address or cancel order. Too late for both.

2 weeks later my laptop finally ships. Frustrating.

Dell's website is horrendous and their customer service is incredibly slow. But, their XPS laptops are the best thing out there for Windows laptops. Just don't buy it from Dell.

It's been at least a decade since Dell was even a remotely decent company to deal with. They went from being one of the best to one of the worst faster than any other company I can think of at the moment.

They still make decent prebuilt business desktops though -- my last 2 work PCs were Dells and they've been quiet and easy to upgrade. Fortunately I haven't needed to deal with their customer service.

There used to be a trick where you can hit the French option and get someone in Canada, but my dad said he tried that the other day with another company and he ended up with someone in France and because of the different French accent it was just as bad as the Indian one lol.

Half the issue when you are calling support for something is the language barrier. Often times they arn't catching the details you're trying to tell them.

I wish there was an option on top of picking English for tech support for which country of whom you get an English speaker. I for example would pick America, as opposed to say, India or something.

Not sure if this is true in America but here by law if you ask them to transfer you to Canada they have to do it. Problem is most places won't even HAVE a Canadian call centre anymore. TBH I never actually tried it as it feels kind of rude, it's not nececerily their fault. Those overseas call centres are actually quite terrible, it's practically slavery. They are locked into a room to work their whole shift and can't leave, and make pennies per hour. If I ran a company I would have a pretty strict policy about outsourcing. Best to spend more to have better quality and morals than to do what most companies do these days. The sickening part is the billions and billions that these companies make and they still outsource everything they can or use TFW's to replace their existing employees. It's never enough.

The last time I bought a Dell laptop, one of the little rubber bumpers on the bottom of the case fell off. I called Dell and the Indian CS sent me the wrong sized bumper and a bill for $23!

When the 17" screen on my Macbook Pro went bad out of warranty ($1100 repair), I took it to the Apple Store where one of the Geniuses wrote it up as a freebie replacement.

I know people bitch about the cost of Apple products, but they forget that sometimes you get what you pay for.

There are people that dont use credit card online?
Exactly. Sounds like the biggest problem was using a debit card, not Dell. When you use a debit card, you are out the money until a problem is fixed. When you use a credit card, you keep all your money unless they can prove that the problem was all your fault.

Yeah it's pretty funny how these companies save so much money outsourcing their phone support. Meanwhile it is basically useless, might as well just save a recording of basic troubleshooting and have an automated warranty process. It's kind of like the fine print on commercials. Companies feel they have to have it there even though it is useless in any practical sense.
