Some killer deals in here.

What is currently the highest-end low-profile PCI-Express card that I can buy? Looks like the X300SE, but here's to hoping that someone might know of something else, or something else that might be released soon.

Really interested in these 4700c's for around $420.

heya gshock888...you have posted that you got $150 off $1000, but I'm not seeing that at all. The $150 off is $1300 and above. Do you have a different code?

Thanks a bunch...killer deals.

Anyone have any problems with Dell outlet purchases?

That's what is great about the codes... it's a discount off the price before other discounts.

For example, a system in the outlet might show a $1300 price crossed out, $1000 price below it ($300 in discounts) and you can use the $150 off coupon because the original outlet price is $1300 and up. 😀

pxc - understood. But the code clearly says $1300 and above, not $1000 and above. See first post.

If I put an item in the cart, and the crossed out price is just over $1000, I can not use the $150 off code. It only accepts the $100 off code ($800-$1300), whereas, it would appear in the previous post that the person used the $1500 off on a $1000-priced machine.

i dont know! it worked for me!
let me try again on another system... but like pxc said, the price before the 400 dollar discount IS above 1300, thats what made this deal so sweet. its like 40% off...

anybody bought dell outlet systems? this is my first time... are they usually in good condition? and has the same lifespan as normal dell home/sb systems?

nm - I'm seeing now that the price was actually $1,324.00 before everything. Sorry about that.

Very awesome finding one with the GTO. I've only seen one or two with any high-end videocards.

IMHO - some of the best deals are those with the P4 3.6ghz. That chip is $400 alone!

I wasn't aware the PCIe slot was low-profile. I was thinking of picking up a 4700 along with a geforce 6600GT. Will those not fit???

Hmm... looks like a geforce 6600GT will fit, but it may not be compatible...

i cant land a 3.6 with GTO

anyway the GTO is probably worth 200-250. its performance, according to those gurus in the video forum, is somewhere between non-GT and GT. and there are some who can enable the extra pipelines on the GTO

It's worth a lot more than that on ebay. 😛 And Dell sells those in spare parts for over $400.

A couple of people on hardforums have unlocked their cards to full 16 pipelines and both got pretty good overclocks, too. I believe both got at least 6800 Ultra speeds or at least close.

I got that same error when I first installed a 6600GT in my 8400. Pressing S made it go away and continue booting normally. Then I upgraded the system BIOS to A02 and never had that error or any problems again.

It just seems to be a minor annoyance (press S to continue) on the 4700 since it's still not fixed. The next BIOS update will probably fix it like it did for the 8400.

The Dell 4700c is a small form factor box, and only takes low-profile half-height cards. It has one PCIe x16 and one PCIe x1.

The highest end PCI express x16 cards I can find are ATI's X300SE and I believe I saw a Nvidia 5750, however the ONLY low profile PCI express card I've seen is the ATI X300se. As of now, I think that's the only option.

If you're looking at the 4700 or the 8400, those are full size ATX boxes, so they will accept any size x16 PCI express.

That is a deal if you really got it that cheap. I sold the exact same system, except with a 3.2Ghz P4, for 1399 on ebay.

I pick up one more of those the other day, for $807 and it had an 80Gb drive, not 250Gb, and I was happy.

EDIT: Forgot I have to pay 9.25% TN sales tax 🙁

Maybe you DID in fact find it that cheap. 🙂

no ny tax for me. i like dell home.

but... i still havent got a confirmation or acknowledgement from them. anybody had experience with dell outlet? how long they take to confirm?

I want my cheap system... 🙁

and BTW... TN sales tax is that much? what for???

I'd love to know, it's way too high.

I usually get both e-mails from dell within 10 min's, sometimes it takes hours.

Dell Home is not charging Tax for TX now. What's up with that. They usually charge 8.25%. Will they charge it later? Dell Small business charges Tax though. Any idea?

I picked up this system yesterday:

Dimension 4600 Micro-Tower
Pentium 4 Processor at 2.8GHz w/800MHz front side bus/ Microsoft Windows XP Home
512MB DDR NON-ECC SDRAM 400MHz (2 DIMMs)
1.44 MB Floppy Disk Drive
160 GB EIDE SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
128MB DDR ATI RADEON 9800 PRO
56Kbps Data/Fax Modem
Sound Blaster Live! Digital Sound Card
48X CD RW/DVD Combo Drive
Integrated NIC Card
Logitec 2-button Scroll Mouse
QuietKey Keyboard

And a whole bunch of software

All for $450.00 shipped

Thanks for the cool deal

Even though I'm frustrated with Dell customer service, I had to break to buy the following:

Dimension 4600 Micro-Tower: Pentium 4 Processor at 3.06GHz with 800MHz front side bus, Integrated Audio/ Video/NIC
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home
Memory: 1 GB DDR SDRAM 400MHz (2 DIMMs)
Floppy Drive: 1.44 MB Floppy Disk Drive
Hard Disk Drive: 80 GB EIDE Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
Video: 128MB DDR ATI RADEON 9800 PRO
Modem: 56Kbps Data/Fax Modem
DVD Drive: 16X DVD ROM Drive
Software: Power DVD Software
Misc: Altec Lansing ADA215 Speakers
Factory Installed Video
Logitec 2-button Scroll Mouse
QuietKey Keyboard

TOTAL: $459 shipped

and then I added this:

Buy a refurbished Dimension, Optiplex or Precision and get a refurbished E173FP Flat panel for $139 [add $139.00] 17 inch Flat Panel Special Offer! (16 ms response time)

So, I got a hell-of-a gaming system for less than $600!
