i wonder if they are going to release a "valid-on-any-config" $750 off $1499 anytime soon of if they are going to stick with these selected configs from now on to control things more in terms of upgrades, etc...

Wow they really jacked up the price of the 700m. You also can't upgrade the CPU this time around.

On the positive, it now comes with a DVDRW standard and a 2 year warranty. Neither of which matter to me... I guess I'll keep waiting.

these 750 off 1499 deals aint what they used to be 🙁

and the dimension 4700 deal here just blows

EKKC ... you took the words right out of my mouth. I just can't get excited about this deal because it's not "special" anymore.

I was considering the 9300 for $1,042 but you only get a stripped unit. I paid a LOT less last year for an i9100 with more features.

Just can't get excited ...

The 6000 deal isn't that bad...
can have 512 ram
60 GB hd
and 128 x300
all that for about 800

thats not too bad in my book for a 1.6 533fsb

at least there are 11,000 redemptions on this code should last more than just a couple of hours with the limited configured notebooks available.

Wanted to pick up another 700m, but they want $150 more for the exact same configuration I got last time. I'll pass.

what was your old configuration?

1.6GHz, 256MB, 60GB, 8X DVDRW, 8-Cell, Intel Wireless 2915.

Came to $752 several weeks back.

what a stupid 700m deal... 🙁

would have bought one but i'll wait till SB brings in another sale.

What are people's recommendations on a laptop for my gf? It would be used for web surfing and word/excel stuff. Nothing too major. I might play games on it if they are playable, but it's not a primary concern.

I was thinking the 9300 since it has a decent screen size. It likely wouldn't be moved very much, and would just stay on the cofee table in the living room.

Thanks. 🙂

Jumpem, my rec is to AVOID this deal! Run away!

I don't know why I am surprised. I got my wife REALLY excited last night configuring a 6000 for her. The unit had just about everything, 1.6 Pentium M, 60 GB HD, X300 graphics, CD/DVD burner, etc. The price was about $1,510.

Well, this morning we get on to BUY and find that Dell has kept the same prices we saw last night yet they really downgraded the hardware configurations. Last night the price for the above config was about $1,510 (before coupon). This morning the configuration has changed BADLY. For that price you get a Celeron M 1.5 GHZ and integrated graphics.

What is Dell thinking? I guess they think we are all idiots ...

I'm probably not getting one today, but my question still stands. What's a decent Dell laptop for someone that doesn't do anything too intensive?

The base 700m would be a great laptop for her. Nice and compact too. I'd get the 512MB ram though.

My cousin has one and it's great for taking to class. But she doesn't like it. She wants something with a larger screen and a less cramped keyboard. I'm not sure whether to look at a 15" or 17".

I wanted to get the 4700, this deal sucks for the 4700 as well?

All I want is a good lcd monitor (was thinking of the 1704) and the 6800. I can upgrade the rest.
