Dell Hardware Replacement Problem

Dell Hardware Replacement Problem

The Kev Master has a Dell 700m. The problem he is facing is that he got an 80GB 4200rpm when he was supposed to be an 80GB 5400rpm. He has gone on Dell chat and been shoved back and forth between tech support and customer care. Also, the reason he's trying to get it fixed is because they are going to replace the hard drive as it is bad, so he wants to have the right drive replaced. They are only going to replace it wih the same 4200rpm hdd not the 5400rpm it was suposed to have with initially.

He wants to get advice from ATechers on how to resolve this and who in the right position at Dell can and will fix this small technicality.

He appreciates all the help he can get from ATechers.

I want you to ask the enigmatic third person, Kev Master, why did Dell first agree to replace the original bad 4200 speed with a 5400 one. If he can get the Dell rep to talk to the original promiser at Dell, the problem should be solved.

If you discussed your problem with Dell in the same fashion that you presented it here....
then I can understand why you can't get anything resolved.

Good clear communication is important, "cute" gimmicks get you zip...

If this is a new laptop that you ordered from Dell and it came shipped with the wrong hard drive (and you have documentation showing that it was supposed to be shipped with a 5400RPM drive), then forget about any RMA issues related to a dead drive and simply tell your Dell sales rep that the laptop was shipped with the wrong drive and you need to have it replaced with the one that you ordered.
