True, and it would seem that he would be under a NDA by Dell... so this "leaked" information might be illegal

He said it in a room full of people with no conditions. Why would an employee be under an NDA with his own company? If it was confidential within Dell he sure didn't say so.

He disseminated this information to you which more than likely is against a Company Privacy Agreement that he signed when hired.

Based on the fact that Dell brands all of their peripherals, I would doubt that they would get out of the LCD market. In big companies, rumors are always rampant.

The fact of the matter is that Dell needs LCD's to distribute with computers. Since they're already having them made to go with computers they sell, they will continue to sell them as "accessories." TV's maybe; LCD's, not likely.

Yep. I can't see how this is better. They still need LCD's. They don't actually build LCD's now, they are just re-selling and re-branding. The Panels come from LG, Samsung, AUO etc and the Assembly is by folks like Benq.

The benefits from this are Dell name on the panels. You see them everywhere. It is like free advertising. They get more pricing control. They control aesthetics and can match to computers. They can sell the monitor for no profit in packages and undercut competition that doesn't build monitors and rely on bunding 3rd party monitors that will require profits for their products.

I don't know if this is true. But it doesn't make sense even if it is.
