But when you look at Newegg and related places the typical dead pixel policy is 8 inside a sq. IN or 4 in a row.

that's the main reason i ordered straight from dell.

Well it's not only Newegg it's all of the manufactors.

Samsung
NEC
ViewSonic
Dell
Sony

Err, WRONG.
Samsung has a - dead pixel policy within 6 mo

Err, Right!

If you like in Korea..

Give me a break. If you live the US or UK the current policy is 8

Our company just bought 10 2005FPWs and I have installed all but one and as far as I can tell I have yet to see a dead pixel. We must have got a great batch and I tip my hat to Dell for that.

unless new things occured, last i heard dell didn't produce glass substrates for LCDs ;) That is Either LG, Samsung, or something else I can't think of b/c i'm too tied...

OK, then I tip my hat to the company (most likely LG) that created these panels.

Actually, to nitpick, the glass main suppliers of substrates are Asahi and Corning. LG and Samsung do produce the glass, but pretty much only produce enough for their own use that I know of. Corning is by far the largest producer in th world at the moment.

They use this pretty cool thing called the fusion process to produce the glass where both sides are about as perfect as possible and never touched except by air while in the molten state.

What a bummer..

I thought MOST dead pixels occur within the first hours of usage..

I now have <5> dead pixel

3 green
1 red
1 blue

the red is the killer.

:(

That is wonderful to hear. Are the A00 revision?

Any backlight bleeding?

Well I finally remembered to look at the revision a and it is indeed A00 with manufacturing date of October 04.
