i got a dell fp2001 for christmas, 3 days after having it i noticed a stuck red pixel towards the bottom. i tried rubbing it out (gently). it did not go away.

so i contacted dell and they shipped another out to me, i just unpacked it and hooked it up, turned it on and there's a green stuck pixel towards the left center (if that makes sense).

i'm going to call dell tomorrow and setup another shipment of yet another fp2001. what are the odds of a 3rd one having a dead pixel?

this is such a nice screen, but dead pixels suck.

anybody else have any problems along these lines?

One dead pixel is normal. Very hard to get a "perfect" panel..

Im suprised dell sent you a new one for a single dead pixel ( no other issues )

The two 2001FP's I have had experience with had zero dead pixels.

Glad to hear.

Mine is very close to perfect, but i see enough LCD's that I am very happy with this one.

Our particular 213T came with only two flaws. Near the right side of the screen we found one dead subpixel adjacent to a dead pixel. Two inches directly underneath this group we found another dead subpixel. Three dead pixels/subpixels is about par for the course on a 1600x1200 LCD.

From the Anand review of the Samsung 213T (21.3in)

why would they not? they didn't ask any ?'s.

hopefully the 3rd one will be fine. for the amount of $ paid for it, i expect it to be perfect.

I understand, and I payed just as much as you.

But when you look at Newegg and related places the typical dead pixel policy is 8 inside a sq. IN or 4 in a row.

Dell's customer service ( phone ) sucks.. But their customer satisfaction (after purchase ) is very high.

Our company just bought 10 2005FPWs and I have installed all but one and as far as I can tell I have yet to see a dead pixel. We must have got a great batch and I tip my hat to Dell for that.

I'll look at one tomorrow to give the revision and no backlight bleeding I can see (although I use CRTs mainly so who am I to judge). I just have to say though they are pretty awesome monitors, but I still like my good old Sony GPD-520. At one point I set three of them up to play around with the settings and such and was fortunate to have a few minutes of 3340x1050 desktop action (sorry no games, these are corporate computers after all), but I did open Photoshop and stuff to see what it looks like, and it does indeed look pretty cool (Excel spreadsheets are another attention getter as is anything that scrolls to the right or left real far). Have to watch out for the middle bezels, however, which can get quite annoying. But I must say it was fun to see the mouse move from one to the next :).

That's why I'm not buying an LCD that I can't see until they all have 0 dead pixel warranties. I'm not having a defective display. Period.

Cool, update me when you get a chance..

Reguarding the Sony, i just had a E-540 Sony 21" that i liked, but this blows it away. In just about every area I feel this monitor is better, and I cannont say enough about widescreen.

:)

It's not that big of a deal to have a single dead pixel or sub pixel.

It is for some people.

I like Dell though, they'll send you a replacement if you don't like the one you received. It may take you awhile to get your perfect display, but at least you'll have it.

I was going to say "As of yesterday, Samsung has such a policy, no?"
But then I looked here and saw that it only applied to LCD's in South Korea.

Oh well. More waiting.

Just keep sending it back until you get a perfect one. My first one was perfect so you are probably just unlucky. I might be able to handle a dead pixel around the edge or something but not a stuck red or green close to the center. I have heard of some 2001FPs arriving with 8, 10 and even 20 dead pixels so there are bad ones out there. I think they just send the return units to the refurbished area and sell them for nearly what the new price is.
