Old drivers for the video card. I doubt its that you only have 1 GB of ram that should be plenty for that game. You actually meet the recommended settings in reguards to ram. According to the specs for BF2 that processor is a bit slow but it is really hard to judge how a dual core 1.66 matches up. I doubt the game is treaded for multi cores so you essencially have a Pentium M 1.66 running this game. First thing I would try is updating the graphics drivers and make sure there isnt some sort of power saving mode on.
I also do not see your video card listed in the "Battlefield 2 only supports the following video cards: " section
