Yes, I'll admit it, I have a Dell. It's two years old and the monitor just started acting up. I tried a couple different video cards and every resolution/refresh rate possible to see if it was something else.

So, after reading about the horror stories of Dell customer service I grab a sandwich and soda and sit down to call.

[*]On hold for 3 minutes
[*]Told tech everything I had done - about 2 minutes
[*]Tech says "we'll send you a new monitor" - about 30 seconds
[*]He gets all my info - about 3 minutes

I'm on the phone for approximately 10 minutes and I have a new (probably refurb actually) monitor on the way. He said it should take 3 days and gave me another number to call if it's not here in four.

Only two bites gone outta my sandwich!

I know a lot of people bitch about them now, but I thought I'd relay a good story for once!

UPDATE
Holy Schnikies!! Airborne Express just left my house after dropping off the monitor!!! I just called Dell last night! And it's not a refurb, brand spankin' new!"

same thing as when my hard drive died, phoned up, told them it was dead, they sent out a guy to come and even replace it for me, though i would have done it myself(hey, it was free, may as well not take up my time doing it ;))

Well actually, when a piece of hardware breaks I RMA it to the company that built it. No middle man.

I bought an Inspiron 8000 last year, right about this time, only issue was it came with ME, dumped that right away and installed 2K Server, runs sweat serving my pages and ftp site. :D

maybe you should wait to post this. ill take it you didnt read the samsung 955df (i think...) monitor scandal. lots of people order this monitor, dell ships them out. well dell ships out an inferior version, not the one listed on the website (like shipped a b instead of a p or something). well people complained, and even after 5 and 6 monitors later, were still receiving a different item than they had ordered.

it took me 2 weeks and 3 phone calls (i didnt have to wait long actually) to get them to fax me an invoice. grrr :|

Isn't anyone else amazed that he was on hold for only 3 minutes?

i like my dell, 4 years, no problems, good support, tons of upgrades, bout to buy another one nex month those 8200's sho look nice

i had a problem with my monitor (still do) and the "refurbished" POS that dell sent me was worse than the one i already had. so i sent it back and yelled at 2 CSR's.
