Dell Dimension Power Supplies

Anyone know if Dell uses a proprietary power connector to the motherboard? I remember reading somewhere that they don't use ATX standard power connectors and I'm outgrowing the 200W PS.

I looked into my old Dimension case 5 years ago and I wanted to replace the 200W PS. But it was impossible, the power connector was all weird and the size of the PS was definitely non-standard. However that was many moons ago, you might be able to find aftermarket PS' that offer more power with a compatible connector.

I've got a 2-year-old Dell. Anyone care to gimme the specs on the ATX connector? I've got a multimeter so I could just check the pins to the motherboard.

Hmm... They're a division of Dell and overpriced like all the other upgrades Dell sells.

And they only have 200W power supplies.

Not much of a help, but thanks anyways.

The only place that I know of that sells power suplies for dells is PC POWER&COOLING but they are expensive and very loud!!! Its $109 for the 300W turbo cool dell p/s. My friend got one and it is loud, I could live with it myself but his wife went off the wall, so he called them back up and they said that they had a Wisper Quiet 275W for dells but its not on their site. So he got an even exchange(wuss), and the new one is nice and quiet but not quite as powerfull. Good luck.
