Dell Dimension 8300 sound card issue

I have Dell Dimension 8300 running xp and I have no sound from it right now. Going to the device manager I see 2 items listed under Other Devices: multimedia audio controller, and PCI input device. It used to have 2 copies of the multimedia audio controller, but...

I recently installed Dell drivers from heredell drivers

which took care of the audio problem, or so I thought. It still has an unrecognized Multimedia Audio controller and the PCI input device as unrecognized. I know have a volume icon the taskbar area in the bottom right which I didn't have before, but I have tested working speakers in all the audio inputs and thus far nothing.
 
Did you install the Intel Chipset drivers? I've had many Dell 400SC servers, which are pretty much identical to the Dimension 8300, and haven't had problems getting all the devices recognized and drivers installed.
